  1. Repost in the hot thread as this is mind boggling. I live here and the people worship Freeman even moreso than we did to Paulie after the World Series. BAD optics that they couldn't get that done and this is the news breaker on it.

  3. Dumb money. Hahn consistently throws 8-11 mil away every off-season on old reclamation projects. Yes, some work out...but this smells like May DFA, and this has KW fingerprints on it also
  4. the Padres reddit is losing their minds over the Tatis news. Like full giving up on season and talking about motorcycle clauses and stuff. I gotta say...it kind of feels okay to watch that burn...
  5. apparently had a bad bike crash and people are speculating that he didn't get it fixed immediately. this contract is going to be monumentally bad. shoulders and wrists are no joke, especially with his absolutely violent swing style.
  6. If they wont be the trade partner...this is great. Let them sign ALL the relievers and kill the market. Sox and Phils get everyone so Kimbrel is only good option left
  7. Buster Olney is to accurate reporting as Jerry is to marquee free agents
  8. Yeah, they just traded a pompous overpay to potentially grab another one...that is fine by me. Tie up big dollars to a guy that had his best years already
  9. I didnt say it was the right decision...i am just trying to understand why hahn & company havent at least put in a competitive offer yet
  10. I know everyone wants a RF big ticket (conforto making the most sense), but with Colas and Cespedes in the pipeline...i just dont see Hahn wanting to commit more than 2 years into a FA, and them genuinely trying to figure out what to do with Vaughn. Honestly the best case scenario would be sign Conforto to a 4 year deal with an opt out after 1 or 2 years to maximize the window and look to the future. Is Hahn and most of all Jerry willing to do an opt out deal? I really dont see the downside of doing something like that.
  11. The signing is fine, but money really does matter here. With volatile bullpens this one could look terrible this year and amazing in 2023. I really do like his fire and passion (cliche, i know) and the postseason experience is very nice.
  12. Yeah for some reason i was thinking JH was lefty. Not a fan of this deal mostly for that reason...and looking at his playing time over the last 5 years....he has been out a lot.
  13. Not a super inspired move...but any bet takers that his overall numbers are better than Madrigals in 2022?
  14. i know Simmons bat sucks, but for 5-6 mil (cubs gave him 4), that defense up the middle would have been insane. Outside of that, the options on market are brutal, and Kimbrel trading for a 2B is not an ideal use of funds. Really trying to understand what they could get and why RF isn't priority right now.
  15. Give. It. Up. .45 era and the peripherals to back it up. We get it you are so much smarter than everyone else...but posting 15 times about it each day is literal message board cancer.
  16. A lot of pitchers in the NL about to be exposed by DH, so it makes sense to try and sign guys that miss bats.
  17. Glad he got a nice deal, but glad sox chose to give that money to Lynn, since his injury risk is lower.
  18. eww. why go 5 years? That contract may really sting in years 4/5
  19. You know what's great...seeing you all fighting over things out of our control. Missed this.
  20. As a transplant in Atlanta now....i LOVE this. Can see sox down the street from me every other year every year now
  21. 50 mil pool, and up CBT by 1 million each year on MLB side and END THIS.
  22. Agreed. Kimbrel was brought in to shield the fact that they made a terrible decision with Kopech, Bummer can't handle pitching into shifts (or TLR can't set up the defense to benefit his immense GB rate), and Heuer and Foster both were bad in their sophomore attempts at capturing the Set up role. Tepera was a great pickup, but they still felt it wasn't quite enough. Were they wrong, probably...but when your starters only go 3-5 innings in the playoffs...you needed a nails bullpen.
  23. This takes the burn off the Kimbrel trade quite a bit. While that didn't work out, the Cubs return looks pretty bleak if Madrigal doesn't start showing some power potential.
