  1. they will buy a good aging starter for cheap for this very reason. Hahn LOVES a good reclamation.
  2. This should be printed on a billboard and placed outside MLB's office.
  3. I am glad your son has this great memory...can Nicky teach our minor leaguers to be better and have a goals oriented approach in their development...that is what I am all for.
  4. Defense up the middle wins championships. Robert is top notch, TA is mercurial and Leury is mediocre. Give me Simmons all day long (based on what is on open market) and watch all the pitchers ERAs drop by .25-.50, and especially Keuchels numbers.
  5. I can't wait for the 50 page binder explaining how Dylan has HOF untapped potential and is the next Max Scherzer once he signs a big contract.
  6. Just turned 40. I joined here in 2006, but didn't use my account until 2017 and started a new one. Joined WSI in 2004, but def got burned out there and lurked on both for years. Was FrankThomasAnkle and KidMcCarthy in years past.
  7. yeah, Andruw had a 4-5 year run that is incredible
  8. I wonder if Hahn checked in on Taylor and heard Dodgers were gonna resign...and that is what drew the quick trigger on Leury.
  9. Agreed completely. What a horrible trade that came out to be...and I was a supporter of it big time. Really hope the CBA creates some favorable contract increases so that 16 mil number seems reasonable
  10. Hypothetical: they cant find a taker...do you: A. Keep hendricks as a great closer and have a horrible set up man in Kimbrel which destroys any tradability come July Or B. Make Kimbrel the closer and if successful have the best setup / jam man in baseball (hendricks can work in any spot imo) and use Kimbrel as a great trade piece come July to use for whatever need the sox have. I know it sucks to do that to Hendricks...but I cant see A benefitting the team in any way.
  11. totally. Hahn calling up potential suitors: "Hey there (insert GM name), just wanted to talk about Craig again. We can assure you that you will get the dead ball version of him, the .54 ERA one. I called Manfred up, he agreed that part of the trade parameters includes Craig and 2 buckets of dead balls. K, thanks. Byeeee."
  12. So juiced balls came back...and Yoan's power numbers didn't significantly increase? that is worrisome. Also...good luck Rangers with Semien. This probably explains his explosion more than anything else. This story is insane if true. They literally could manipulate W/Ls for certain teams by supplying different balls if they wanted to.
  13. Was that guy sitting on a southwest flight next to TLR?
  14. did this need to happen before the freeze? Seems like it could have been secondary to RF. I wonder what is up?
  15. This is mostly where I am at as well. Scherzer was never happening but Ray at his years/cost and a few others were not ludicrous or unreasonable. Just one really nice signing. Wheeler was the perfect example, and that sting just doesn't go away I guess.
  16. What a shame. truly a great ballpark and history with a rabid sports fanbase. Salary floor/cap really needs to be implemented in a fair manner
  17. oh man, that was the sentiment though. This isn't my take, that was the athletic/espn/everywhere. I am not saying Bulls are apples to apples, but seeing them go for it this off-season was so refreshing. Just wish the Sox would show a little effort that way. Was good with Graveman, hopeful that they get at least one nice piece for 2022.
  18. But it was a philosophy change within the same family. The Bulls have switched gears and are willing to be aggressive...why can't the Sox? DeRozan was called an overpay by nearly every pundit out there.
  19. The FO has been content so long with being runner's up on contracts...it gets the fans interested and shows the team "is really trying"! It may be what gets Jerry off to be honest. But in this twitter and forum heavy world...that trick doesn't work anymore and they have to adjust. The Bulls overpaid Ball and DeRozan because they HAD to make an effort to field a deep team. NO MORE EXCUSES. Sign someone OVER market value...it's the fucking Chicago market!
  20. his demands of 200 mil sure fell flat. But the value on this contract is pretty solid tbh. Let's hope his high K rates get even worse...because the Tigers are going to be a thorn in the window's side with their moves and young pitching.
