Joe Kelly was a luxury signing that was an overpay at the time...and now, along with Leury's release IS THE reason they couldn't sign a real starter or 2nd baseman star. Just threw money away here.

Still he is looking better than Giolito and Lynn.
Yeah, hilarious in a game where only 1 hit in four innings and a ton of routine pop ups and flyouts is "crushed"

Kopech looks sharp. 96 on the heater and slider has good movement. He clearly was tipping first start

That last pitch was called "sweeper" on the statcast. How does that differ from a slider?
I have noticed almost a dozen pitchers this year with a "sweeper"

I know the pitching is bad....but this offense is elite right now

Good to see vince still sucks

Legit question. Is it just katz asking players to tone it down or did the entire staff lose 2-3 mph on their fastballs all at the same time? Cease is the only pitcher who hasnt lost significantly
-
So does diekman get DFAd tomorrow...or will they let him lose 2-3 more games?
-
What the heck is this game??

For the record...conforto sucks. He has gotten 2 absolute gift pitches this series, but is awful outside of the those 2 pitches

Lynn has lost a lot on his fastball.

Vaughn looks so good one at bat and so so bad the next 2. it's weird watching his approach.
-
you guys crack me up. sky is falling before at bat was even over.
-
Hendriks did say see you soon Chicago....Is he crashing thru the fence WWE style for the 9th....?
-
conforto sucks. big time.

Beni is really trying to adjust his launch angle...too many pop ups so far....but if he can split the difference...he will start getting some ropes.

Robert is such a stud.

Why is everyone piling on the dude for a mild hamstring strain? This isn't a big deal and everyone here sounds like a dick that only wants to be right.

Yeah, probably. I think Elvis can still be a useful guy to have around. I liked the signing for $3M. He provides insurance for a TA injury that won't leave us with a huge defensive liability out there. Even if Elvis is the guy he's been for the lionshare of the past half decade, he is still worth having around as a bench peice. I just don't think the Sox should pigeonhole him into 2B every single day. As I said when the Sox signed him, best case scenario is Romy, Sosa or JRod ripping that job away from him ASAP.
he is a much better option to step in and help the infield in any capacity than Leury was. Great signing even if he falls back to the norm. Also...Romy needs a chance to play and impress...but Grifol is going to push Elvis hard until he gets #2000

Bellinger off to an astounding 1/15 start with that .067 BA and .176 OPS (only because his one hit was a homer). Dude is TOAST.

Okay he is tipping

Of course its the two dorks doing all the damage

have fun for those going. Wish I coulda made the trip home for the week, but couldn't swing it.
DeSclafani mostly throws Sliders (32%) and Sinkers (25%), so hopefully he hangs some otherwise there could be a LOT of chase today.Rumor is that it may be a split game with Sean Manea backing him up early, so lineup today needs to be flexible. WIN THIS SERIES.
