  1. EE was practically already signed when the Sox were tied to him; his father had just passed an delayed things. Keuchel was just the best starter left after they missed out on Wheeler but you are correct. What I find funny is all the "twitter sources" that were scared of "ruining things" in the past and wouldn't say anything are chirping non-stop, and they're talking about things that didn't happen that they knew about yada yada. Why? Because the Sox are good and it gets attention again.
  2. If there's a rumor about the Sox getting a guy the Sox probably aren't getting them. That's what the past few years have taught me.
  3. Something you can't understate is that the success of the Sox young players enhances the trade value of the Sox other young players. A proven track record of development and growth adds some value to your guys; however small that may be
  4. The Orioles front office as constructed today is very intelligent. Why do you give Bundy credit for improving with analytics but you ignore Lynn's actual proven track record of improving with analytics? It's so bizarre.
  5. This is just batshit. Pitching prospects are great and all, and it's been cool to see Giolito pan out, but pitchers are so risky. Lynn is a proven horse and veteran who will give you 1+ years of damn good outings. Even when Lynn wasn't dominant he was a very nice MLB starter.
  6. Jack you're overthinking this man. Lynn has been absolutely dominant for like 18 months. Dylan Bundy has had 38 nice innings.
  7. I worry about moving Vaughn as well. He's really the only young guy I worry about moving. All the pitchers may be something but they're pitchers. Vaughn could be Miguel Cabrera.
  8. Now Robert and his shitty .898 is the disappointing jerk on this team!
  9. He pitched well when he had to - he wasn't lucky in those spots - but I agree that he should be done here tonight. No way should he see the top of the order again.
  10. Coop just needs to go out there and scream at him every inning it seems.
  11. At the time, I thought the Sox had traded Int Money from next period. When I realized that wasn't the case, I quickly realized they basically just bought Dyson for free to be a late inning guy. Summary: I read more, learned more, and realized exactly why they made the move. I forgot playoff rosters are even a little bigger too; which means you can literally carry him and Engel despite them serving a similar role.
  12. Yeah, I love outfield defense and speed so Dyson always been a me guy. Dyson has been worth 13.6 fWAR in 2679 AB's; good for a fWAR/600 over 3. He's been an above average MLB player in his career despite having a career wRC+ of 78. That's.... remarkable.
  13. No one. If you're not hitting a 10-25% catch probability, you're not getting a hit, and I'd guess even a lot of the 10-25% balls would be caught by that group. You can shade engel and Dyson towards the corners and shallow because Robert is so damn explosive going back and into the gaps. Take away the entire outfield.
  14. He's also still a very good defender; although his defense won't play up as much in LF because his arm is a noodle.
  15. Yeah, Gore has more raw speed than Dyson but he's not quite as good of a baserunner or base stealer as Dyson.
  16. Jarrod Dyson was the original Terrance Gore; no idea how Sox fans don't remember this. It just turned out that Dyson ended up being a great defender too so he got starting spots as a below average bat.
  17. Read the poor lead scout who signed Gregory Polanco today in the Athletic state that he feels bad because he thinks the Pirates ruined Polanco and destroyed his elite game.
  18. Almost think that would hurt his value if it was, because his value is his ability to get you second base so it's a good thing that's not a post season rule. If he's already there, there's plenty of guys who can go 2nd to home on a good jump. His ability is to get 2nd base for you no matter what. Will never forget the Royals calling up Jarrod to just be a pinch runner and it ended up getting them a huge run.
