Sox have a top 5 OPS in baseball; their offense/plate discipline has been fine. Sequencing hasn't been on their side so far, but there offense has been great.

Agreed; Ozzie would rightfully be pissed and say you're not in the clubhouse so STFU. That said, it's his job to now do things like this so while I agree with you 100%, I don't think he's wrong for doing his job. I like Ozzie, but I feel like a lot of Sox fans have very rosey memory of his time as manager at the end. Ozzie was unprofessional and couldn't have left on a more sour note.

This just isn't how statistics work and I've seen it cited 100's of times so it's not you. You can't extrapolate out wins and losses in the same way you'd do with counting stats. Reason being, those 5 games are still decided by the exact same amount of small outcomes as they would be in a 162 game season. The reason you play 162 is to work out a lot of the noise that can come in smaller baseball samples. This is good news though, because these 5 games have taught us nothing more about a team or season than 5 games would in a 162 game season. It's practically meaningless when trying to determine the true talent level of a team. It's no different than any other random 5 game series throughout a season, it's merely been amplified due to the timing (first of the year) and the season being shortened. That means the Sox are still the same team you thought before the season started, they just haven't had sequencing work in their favor. Also, in addition, due to the playoff structure, the Sox really need to just beat the teams that they are supposed to and they likely get in. They could struggle with good teams and beat bad ones and they would like eek out a playoff spot. I hate watching bad baseball - which is really where my anger lies here - and that's why I've been frustrate. The same overthrows, errors, lack of execution and etc that we've seen under this regime for a while are happening. When Madrigal gets up and Mazara back this weekendish, I think everyone will feel a lot better. It would be better to not be 1-4, but at the same time it hasn't changed a whole lot.

My number one thought and concern in this; because becoming comfortable to open up about your issues is not easy for anyone. He appeared to find comfort in her partnership and become more comfortable with who he was and his personal demons/struggles. It sucks to lose that anchor regardless of the reason or duration of that attachment. I hope he's OK. -

It is, though. Indoor dining is still basically a ghost town, and outdoor dining is temporary and really only big on those times you see. Around me, there's reservations available for 630-7 every friday/saturday night at places. Let's not forget that the vast majority of restaurants in Chicago do not have outdoor patios or dining. I agree with you that the gathering in huge crowded patios with massive groups of friends is an awful idea and not something I would sign up for, but I do find myself asking if I'm any better - I have only gone out with my wife and I alone, and I have barely gone anywhere but the grocery store besides the two restaurant trips. What is the line? What is acceptable? I just don't know... Guilt is strong. -

I've never read that but I'm sure anything is possible. I wear a mask when ordering or talking with the server out of respect for him and his job. -

If you're outdoors and the tables are far apart (as required), I don't see why a mask is required. I won't dine inside until this entire thing is under control which could be months/year+ and in the two times I have gone out to sit outside, I never entered the restaurant. -

The lag time between testing and results has always made the testing entirely pointless. -

the problem with this theory is the virus only takes one weak link to infect the entire pile; so while you say the Marlins are just a shit run organization, others are at risk because of them. -

I mean, you can't ignore the success (so far) of the NBA/NHL/MLS. MLB has never taken this seriously and they have always managed this horribly. I think NFL might be in that boat as well, but you never know. I doubt anyone finishes their seasons, but the NBA/NHL/MLS have been successful as possible so far. The true test is what happens when someone gets it. -

So you think 14 of 30 members of one organization contracted the virus in... off the field activity? What? I think it's pretty safe to say they contracted it because they were around each other. -

I think this will all come down to the Phillies test results tonight. If the Phillies test positive and someone got it from the Marlins, the season is over. If not, they'll tell hte Marlins tough shit, use your taxi squad. -

THey haven't enforced any rules. They said players would sit in the stands, and that lockers would be in suites and no one would be in the lockerroom. They said no spitting and etc. All of it is nonsense. They said no high fives or celebrations; there have been plenty. -

What happened to players lockers being in the suites and no high fives or touching? I have been wondering that since the Sox have been real close to each other many times. This never seemed feasible, but I think plenty didn't take it serious too. -

Twitter? here as well. Baseball is a privilege. In other nations that have baseball being played, if they have one positive they shut it down. Here? Teams are missing 3 starters and people don't blink an eye and are already saying absurd stuff.
