  1. That's great; usually teams with better players win more. Also, usually teams that win more have a process and plan for roster development and they don't simply jump at every star on the market just because they're great players. Spending 25% of your payroll to acquire a player who plays the same position as your best player is a mis-allocation of resources; especially considering you may need to give up a piece that was a part of your roster building future to do it. It's cool to build all-star teams in video games, but making bad moves or misfit moves tend to harm organizations in the long run one way or another.
  2. I find it funny that you think just adding a star because they're a star is always the right answer.
  3. Or maybe, the Sox have no interest in investing that much money at third base for a guy with an opt out in 2 years who would cost not only money, but prospects? Especially if they forecast Madrigal to be worth more over 7 years than Arenado is over 2. There's a ton of factors that go into a decision like this, and I think this whole "just move Yoan" sentiment is just wrong. It's amazing how every time a star is available, peoples take is "get him no matter what!" They then go on to cite cheapness or some other angle, completely ignoring the real reason; team and roster building matters.
  4. I'm not sure how you can paint the Sox being 2nd in baseball in drafted/signed talent since 2010 as a negative, but you are certainly searching for a way. Let me show how much better they've been than you're acting: 2010: Sale (HOF'er), Addison Reed, Jake Petricka, Saladino (Saladino another really late pick that the Sox developed into a big leaguer) 2011: Semien (I was wrong about his draft year being 2008, Star), Kevan Smith (MLB'er) 2012: Bad year - only a couple guys made the MLB for short stints 2013: Tim Anderson, Adam Engel (19th round) 2014: Rodon, Jace Fry (3rd), Aaron Bummer (19th round) 2015: Bad draft - Fulmer stinks but Seby and Mendick were late round picks who have reached the big leagues so there's some positive there 2016: Can't really start looking at this draft yet, but Collins is a big leaguer, Lambert looked promising, Hamilton is a likely big leaguer. 2017 and 18 can't really be judged yet. The Sox found a lot of big league talent in the draft, and 3 stars. They had a nice decade. They did all this despite not even being able to judge their high first round picks because they haven't had enough time to develop.
  5. The reason the Sox rank highly is because of stars (Sale, Semien and Anderson are a big part of this). The Sox have drafted well; despite the narrative here.
  6. Well yes, given that they rank in the top 5 in all of baseball in WAR generated via the draft so... uh yeah. so they're 2nd in all of baseball. I'll say the sox did pretty damn well.
  7. Again, the Sox have drafted well over the past 10 years.
  8. We could be 3 months into the season next year and people honestly might be calling for Vaughn to be promoted. He's going to smash Birmingham like no one has.
  9. Thanks doc. So Rocco baldelli had genetics to be an elite athlete but had no strength by 28. Guess his elite athlete Gene's should have overcome any issues.
  10. Well actually the fake report says he received a medical exemption to receive it meaning it was prescribed. So again hed have a medical reason. So even based on the "rumor" hes doing it for medical reasons. You post a picture and say he doesnt need it hahaha
  11. You have literally no idea what you're talking about pertaining to his medical issues/history. If he was approved for an exemption, it's because he had an issue serious enough that a doctor said he needed HGH. Doctors can't prescribe HGH just because they like to.
  12. Yeah, there's a lot that goes into Lavines game that is being overlooked. The guy isn't fucking Ron Mercer garbage scoring his way to fake numbers. I also have no idea why he's b****ing about Lavines turnovers because of some SSS "clutch" nonsense. He controls the ball fine giving how much he has to dominate it.
  13. I disagree with you guy immensely on Lavine and that doesn't mean that I disagree that he doesn't belong this year. Lavine is in a situation impossible for him to succeed. He has no other creators on the team, and no other true finishers. His "shooters" suck, and he feels he has to force the issue because no one else has any aggression. He's a dreadful defender and that needs to change, but the turnovers are more of a symptom of the bigger picture than of who he is as a player. I think LaVine still has a chance in the right scenario to be an impact player on a good team. I think he's a very talented, but the situation he's in is impossible.
  14. My best buddy broke his wrist on a play like that in college and it destroyed his career; a true freshman starting at a top 5 program. Never recovered fully from the injury. When I saw that, I cringed at his wrist rolling under his body.
  15. So it doesn't matter? LaRussa was in the league as a head coach in 2011.
  16. Yeah, agreed. If he has an exemption, it's for health reasons and he has abnormally low levels. This just allows him to use it to get his levels up to the same point that other healthy players have.
  17. Spare me the excuses. These guys are complete trash; years of calling out other teams with shit like this: All while cheating their way to a title. Their lies, their hypocrisy, and their soap boxes... all complete trash. I have said that everyone tries to gain edges, and some go too far, but the sanctimonious way in which the Astros presented themselves and attacked others is so comical now that this has all come out. What a disgrace. Not a peep out of anyone either; except for fake denials or nonsensical "it really didn't help" BS. At least Beltran owned his mistake and made zero excuses; he also never accused others of doing what he was doing. Verlander is a clown.
  18. And the players still lied, which just shows how stupid this "immunity" stuff was.
  19. You know Timmy is just loving this right now.
  20. What, it explains exactly why they granted them "fake" immunity.
  21. What? The 1986 and 1987 rosters shared like 90% of the roster. McDowell was teammates with those players. Clearly from his time with the team and organization, and with those players, he learned this and is stating it. I have no idea why anyone thinks that because he didn't play that exact year that he could have no idea what was going on.
  22. Because the commissioners office didn't want to go through the appeals process with the Union; there was no exact language within the CBA warranting punishments here, and it would have opened up an entire other bag of worms had they suspended the players.
  23. No, that is not why the players were granted immunity. With fellow union members outraged, tony Clark is in one hell of a tough spot. Players want players held accountable.
