  1. This is something that entertains me every off season and I like seeing how accurately salaries can be predicted. Fans the past few years have over valued the market. Let's see how accurate everyone can be. Here is a list of the top 2020 free agents. Here are the top 25: Cole - 7 years, 250 million Rendon - 8 years, 255 million Stras - 6 years, 220 million Bumgarner - 6 years, 175 million Chapman - 4 years 60 million JD Martinez - 4 years, 90 million Ryu - 4 years, 85 million Donaldson - 3 years, 65 million Wheeler - 5 years, 125 million Ozuna - 4 years, 85 million Grandal - 4 years, 70 million Odorizzi - 4 years, 60 million Hamels - 4 years, 65 million Didi - 5 years, 68 million Keuchel - 3 years, 50 million Castellanos - 5 years, 80 million Miley - 2 years, 25 million Encarnacion - 1 year, 19 million Moustakas - 2 years, 38 million Puig - 3 years, 45 million Will Smith - 4 years, 48 million Will Harris - 3 years, 30 million Betances - 2 years, 16 million Roark - 1 year, 13 million Pineda 1 year, 11 million
  2. I don't think Odorizzi touches anywhere near 100 million. Odorizzi will sign for 4 years 60 million.
  3. Scherzer is one of 2 pitchers in 50 years who have had a career trajectory like his. Expecting that from anyone else is crazy - even if I am high on Wheeler. Scherzer is a freak of nature- his game has matured like wine. That isn't the norm and should never be expected.
  4. Wasnt counting this year - that's my bad. Regardless, I think Corbin had a better case in free agency than Wheeler regardless of how highly I view Wheeler. Their actually pretty similar, but wheeler will be a year older in the first year of his deal. I'd still say he falls within 115-125 - especially given the fact that there are more options this year on the SP market than there was when Corbin signed.
  5. I hear you, but I'd note that he was 25 at time of injury and his arm has bounced back stronger than pre-injury. Innings destroys arms as you know; I wouldn't be surprised if a study was done that said innings missed due to injury might be better for your arm in the long run due to the wear and tear. Similarly to how players who had concussions and missed time might have brains in better shape than guys who didn't have big concussions but played every day.
  6. Scherzer is a better comp than Cole - for the exact reason you mentioned, cole was very good very young. Max and Wheeler have a lot of similarities through their age 29 seasons.
  7. 150-160? Zero chance. 115-130 will be his zone. Corbin got 125 and he had thrown more innings, was coming off a better year and had a lesser injury history.
  8. He's thrown nearly 500 fewer innings in his career - 2+ full seasons. In baseball years he's younger.
  9. Idk. I almost like the fact that injuries have limited the miles on his arm After how much both have pitched this year I wouldn't he surprised if both had down years next year.
  10. My goodness. This is almost as dumb as when Sox fans got enraged that they didnt protect Josh Phegley or that 2nd baseman the dodgers claimed who amounted to nothing - Jake Peter?
  11. Yeah, I saw that. Not smart by nagy but also not an excuse for missing a 41 yarder - the hash marks are way to close together for it to matter.
  12. I just don't see how any team could draft Hansen and put him on the big league club all year. Maybe the Tigers? Youd have to be so bad that his results wouldn't matter
  13. The defense appears to be defeated in a way. The saints game was just a downward spiral for them - their frustrations with their offensive side of the ball seemed to spill over defensively. Not excusing them but I understand it.
  14. This shouldn't be how you evaluate the decision. They could have not kneeled, ran and fumbled. There are a lot of variables to evaluate. The Bears didn't lose because they kneeled down. They lost because their QB can't hit open receivers and turned the ball over twice in a row late. They lost because their QB looks so lost in the red zone.
  15. I mean they just gave up 220 yards of offense. Theyve been pretty great given the weight they're carrying.
  16. This isn't college. I would guess they put the ball on the hash that their kicker preferred.
  17. Lamar Jackson is light years better than Trubisky and he was drafted a year after with the 32nd pick. Mitch is just bad. The excuses need to end. I've always said if you spend your days making excuses for your QB then you're QB isn't very good.
  18. This is just pure nonsense. It's clear the QB doesn't know how to read defenses, audible into the right play and etc. The excuses for Mitch need to stop. Players are significantly more responsible for on the field outcomes than coaches. Mitch has been put into a pass friendly system but his accuracy is terrible. Saying you'd get rid of Nagy and keep Trubisky is hilarious.
  19. Nagy deserves flak for a lot of decisions this year but Bears fans are looking into the kneel down far too much. The difference between make and miss at 36-38 yards and 41 is microscopic - it's probably more likely that a penalty or turnover kills them than the 3-5 yards helps. It's really obvious that Nagy doesn't trust mitch but can you blame him? He's sitting at the podium defending his decision while his QB was turning it over twice late on his side of the field. It's really tough to evaluate a coach with an incompetent QB. Nagy may not be the answer, but it's not because he kneeled down to kick a 41 yarder.
  20. Nationals weren't trading Robles according to every other source. Regardless I think their return ended up being better than that.
  21. And he had one INT dropped in the endzone. He was atrocious.
  22. How would 1/3 ever be better than 2/30 for a reliever. He's not getting 27 million in year two regardless of how good he is next year.
  23. Your lack of understand of basic stastics gets me everytime. Nationals were the 3rd least favored team going into the playoffs. They're now up 2-0 in the WS. Anyone can win once they get there, hence why a Wild Card team can make the World Series.
  24. I just don't think it can be considered a win for the Nats. The Nats would have been better this year with Giolito in the rotation and a replacement level right fielder. Team outcomes don't really impact the valuation of a trade imo. If they don't have Eaton, and have Giolito, maybe they don't sign corbin and then they can afford Harper. There's a lot of reasons why value is all that matters in trades.
