  1. I agree its not an obstacle but not because of what boob said. In fact, nearly every player in the game would understand why he was resting. These guys are professionals and this is their job. Garrett is basically on the league minimum.
  2. Of course it's not, why wouldn't a team with money be willing to lock up one of the games elite arms?
  3. Chris Getz was the director of player development. The White Sox have less talent than any team in baseball. It doesn't matter who you want to blame, those outcomes are his responsibility.
  4. An absolutely insane take. I didn't read after the word yes.
  5. Yes or no. Do you think Chris Getz has done better than bad as GM of the White Sox?
  6. The problem is with the exception of fedde, who I'd argue was a rental always to acquire players, none of the moves he made with the future in mind have panned out. The fletcher's of the world are an indictment on Getz player model and evaluation. It's consistent throughout the "undervalued" (in his eyes) markets he targets.
  7. I like eflin, but he's not 100% right right now. Still a nice add for a team in need of multiple starters
  8. Max already said he wasn't waiving his no-trade to go anywhere.
  9. As a team, I'd like more than 2 years of FA but agree with the $$ amount per year. This whole report honestly makes no sense. Garrett Crochet can't really refuse to play or dictate how a team uses him.
  10. This, plus some other metrics and data dives, makes me really nervous about Thorpe. Will hitters simply adjust to the change in the bigs and destroy all his value? His change being good doesn't explain his FIP either. Even Mark Buehrle, who did everything else perfectly, had a fip only .3 higher than his ERA. Thorpe seems to be getting better so I hope that continues but he's concerning for me.
  11. Deloading speaking more of routine and arm build-up while weighing increased workload, no? I'm not shocked to see them bulk Crochet and then maintain schedule and routine on limits rest of the way because it limits the total deloading of rest and then throw-resuming sporadically throughout the year.
  12. We're just talking in circles. If you think what crochet is doing is just another good half, I can't help. There are 8 instances i could find of 107 inning stretches matching crochets current stretch. In 25 years.
  13. Tyler glasnow just got 140 million. In 8 years prior he threw 530 innings topping out at 120. Anyone who questions crochet value to the Sox can point to the 30 year old injury risk who just got 140 million.
  14. I posted it in another thread a couple weeks back. I'm on mobile so will try to recall. Crochet the 2nd highest k rate. He's only pitcher with k rate over 12 per 9 and a walk rate under 2. Also only with 11+ ks and a walk rate under 2. Lowest FIP. This is with any starter with 100 or more IPs in the past 25 years. He's got the number one k/bb %, besting spencer strider. Garrett crochet is a unicorn . Jose Fernandez, chris sale, Jacob degrom, and Spencer strider. That's the crochet company in k to bb which normalizes faster than most metrics.
  15. I've seen this proposed across baseball many times yet I don't think I've seen it happen more than maybe once; if at all.
  16. He's not having success. Thats understating it. He's doing things that only 5 guys in the past 25 years have done.
  17. I'd love it. This team could have a real nice staff too. Not sure where the runs will come from, but they've got some great arm talent. Let garrett anchor it.
  18. Every pitcher has missed time for something at this point so that stat is pretty misleading imo. What is the injury percentage to start with? If you're saying any arm injury during a career as a pitcher, it's gotta be in the 70s at this point. So is reoccurrence even increased over initial injury rates? Arms can either handle the strain or they can't. It's an unnatural motion. I will forever believe, barring analysis to the contrary, that some can handle it and some can't and beyond that it's just year to year noise. Imo, we don't know if crochet can handle it or not as he's a completely different pitcher with different mechanics, and a different build. He's just as likely as the next guy. Are you arguing there's degrees of probability? Id certainly love to see the breakdown.
  19. Market value. Sox have nothing on the book. I'd give him a 6 year extension, buy out 4 FA years with a team option on 7. Give him 120 for the FA years with 30 mill option and projected Arb numbers for next two. Basically values out around the rodon contract.
  20. They should extend crochet. I grew up a fan of a team that kept the majority of their star players at least through a 2nd contract. This new way the Sox operate is incredibly depressing. Crochet is a generational talent, and as fans we determine which year is best to trade him... not me.
  21. Agree, with some discipline and support around him in the lineup. Robert is going to help carry whoever acquires him for some period of time.
