Agreed, but I don't believe most casual fans will be that upset. They don't realize how close this is, and many I've talked to have said something along the lines of "Yeah, sure buddy. Believe it when I see it"
Say a seven year deal. There’s a team option after year 3 for years 4-7. If turned down player gets option on year 4. Don’t see this happening, it’s too good for the team.
I Don't think there's anyway Machado's camp doesn't turn around and try and get a better deal from the Sox. If Machado takes a short term deal, it's because the Sox didn't want to step up.
I think three batters is too many, but I like the idea. 2 would eliminate the one batter specialists without punishing a team too bad for throwing a guy who flat out doesn't have it that night.
