There's more to athleticism than being able to run in a straight line. Body control and agility are huge parts of athleticism and Eloy is severely lacking in both. Like he has none.

He's so bad at so many aspects of catching.

It's fair becuase he's just playing left field. All he has to do is wait for the ball to stop rolling, pick it up and throw it in. (Literally) staying alive for his next at bat is the most important thing he can do on defense.

It's really hard to believe just how bad Eloy is on defense. He might be the worst defensive player I've ever seen.

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, MLB will begin using Statcast data to crack down on the use of foreign substances by pitchers. Wow. They're finally going to use the data for something useful. This could be interesting.

Using him as starter depth was always the plan and yes it's a bad plan.
