Madrigal could be ready for opening day
Harold's Leg Lift replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You can't go back and look at the MLB draft in a vacum like you can the NFL or NBA because money plays such a big part in those selections. This year the O's selected Keston Hjerstad with the 2nd pick. They did not think he was the 2nd best player in the draft (he received the 8th highest signing bonus) but they thought he was the best player for the money. Simply going back and looking at the order they were chosen does not give an accurate representation for why they were chosen. This is the biggest misunderstanding of how the MLB draft works -

Anderson and Robert have unlimited athletic ability. Of course they were going to get better because they are so incredibly physically gifted. Madrigal is the opposite of that. If he stops running into outs and making errors he still won't be a difference maker because he's so physically limited. He has no burst to be a difference maker on the basepaths. He has limited range and arm strength to be a difference maker on defense and he is obviously limited at the plate because he has no power. He has very little room to get better. -

Using Anderson and Robert as examples for Madrigal is like using a Lamborghini and a Ferrari as an exapmle for a Honda Civic. -

He's also limited defensively, on the base paths, athletically and physically with zero remaining projection. It's just a very limited and average profile and if another teams wants to overvalue bleeders, dribblers and gernades I'm all for it. -

He's a low impact player. I would be thrilled to see someone else overvalue his limited skillset but I don't see that happening. -

Huh. I was led to believe they did. Maybe they will allow 2 complex teams. That would definitely be a good thing. -

It doesn't sound like MLB is going to allow organizations to have 2 complex teams. It goes away from the purpose of contracting the minor leagues. Organizations will be allowed 6 minor league teams ( AAA, AA, A+, A-, Complex, DSL) and 180 players. It hasn't been approved yet but that's the immediate goal. -
MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
Harold's Leg Lift replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
Eugene Freedman sent out a series of tweets that said the owners could invoke force majeure to delay the season. Force majeure would violate the CBA but the owners will claim it does not. Drellich's article rebuts that theory but Freedman intimates it is a possibilty. I was told months ago the owners wanted to lock out the players if they didn't agree to a new CBA before the season started and this sounds frighteningly similar to that. -

They're dragging their feet on that one (coincidence?) meanwhile there are over 200 free agent players just sitting out there but pitchers and catchers are going to report in a month and a half. Ok -
I agree with lines 1 and 3. Disagree with line 2. This team went 8-8 with terrible coaching. They have a lot of talent and a good coach has them 10-6 or better. I think they need to get rid of Nagy and keep building on what they have.

MLB 2020-21 off season catch all

I'll believe it when I see it too. The owners fought tooth and nail to delay last season with no fans and they'll do the same this year. They can force a delay but will first try to "negotaiate" and drag their feet while blaming the players union until they have the start date they want. We've seen this movie before. -
Why do you still see a post when you have that poster on ignore?

Rodgers put up 76 pts against them in 2 games. 82 if Scantling catches that easy pass and he did it without breaking a sweat. Hell of a game plan, Fellas.
-
The defense is ass. How many times are they going to cover a WR with a LB. Rodgers never had it so easy.

The Padres aren't done either. I think they closed the gap enough where you can't definitely say the Dodgers are better. -

I was thinking Jared Kelley and Cody Heuer (if they sign Hendriks). I don't want to think about Carrett Grochet because my head would explode. -
