  1. Sounds like it's a negotiating ploy. Owners still playing dirty pool with a pandemic.
  2. When talking about that type of athletic/projectable player I prefer the big strong guy who already has avg to plus raw power but the hit tool is a little behind. That guy could get his swing/approach locked in and turn into a superstar. It's very difficult for a smaller guy to get to avg power power when he doesn't have that big solid/strong base to build from. I just think you can find that type of player later in the draft.
  3. I'm trying to think who he is. Is he Travis Swaggerty? I think Swaggerty had more power when he came out and he might turn out to be a fine player but I'm sure Pittsburgh would love a do over on that one.
  4. Ugh. They can be connected to him as long as they don't draft him. Frelick is not my kind of guy.
  5. I'm anti HS catcher. The history of HS catchers in the upper rounds is a wasteland of bad picks. It's the riskiest profile in the draft. The bat has to be truly special so when he inevitably has to move off the position he can stick on a corner. Mack has a pretty good bat but I wouldn't put him in the special category. I think they will have much better options at 1-22.
  6. The number of rounds hasn't been determined yet but it will not be 40. Those days are gone. It will be between 20-30 rounds with 20 being the most likely.
  7. I'd rather them spend that money on Tanaka/Odorizzi and Bradley.
  8. With the bullpen arms they have I don't think they need to throw a shit ton of money at one guy to be the designated closer. The Rays had 12 different pitchers record a save. The Sox finally have a manager who knows how to run a bullpen. Just load up on a bunch of good arms and let your hall of famer baseball person play matchups.
  9. They have to continue to upgrade the pitching staff. They downgraded the offense (bringing Vaughn up in April instead if June will help) and the defense. They need to significantly upgrade the pitching staff to bring this team to the next level.
  10. Because he liked it here and wanted to win here. It's really too bad they couldn't get it done.
  11. He would have signed with them for less before he hit free agency.
  12. They could have brought him back for less. Huge downgrade to the catcher position.
  13. Darnold would be able to step in and play right away while the defense is (supposedly) still good. Lance or Trask would probably take a year or two to get rolling.
  14. Damn it. Damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it. Damn it.
  15. Here's a question I have. Lets assume the Bears end up with a middle (12-18) draft pick: Are they better off taking the 4th or 5th best QB in this draft or trading for Sam Darnold?
  16. I haven't had that many beers yet. It isn't anything dastardly. It would just help explain how and why things went down the way they did.
  17. Apologies to Not Cishek. Back to the original thought.
  18. Ha. Not Cishek gave him bad dope. Same thought applies. Good move by the Tigers and Dahl.
  19. Good deal for both. Dahl will get plenty of opportunities to play and DH'ing should help keep him healthy. This is the kind of low risk/high reward moves teams like the Rangers should be making.
