One of the worst trades in recent memory just got worse. Yikes

They definitely need a system that doesn't reward losing. I saw one proposal that I absolutely love. The team that finishes with the best record that doesn't qualify for the playoffs gets the first pick then on down. So this year the Giants would have the first pick overall followed by the Philles, Mariners, Kansas City all the way down to the Pirates who would have the 14th pick. The playoff teams remain at the bottom so the Sox would still have the 22nd pick. Imagine teams actually trying to win games in September to improve their draft position rather than trying to lose games. It would make for a much more competitive league.

I think the QO goes away in the next collective bargaining agreement.

If I remember correctly they liked using him as a pinch hitter because he's very good at hitting velocity. They may have overthought that one.

He's always been a good hitter but a couple years ago he made a swing change that allowed him to get to more power while still keeping his k rate very low.

This is why self scouting is paramount right now. They have to trade the players they don't see as future difference makers before they lose all their value.

I'm not in on Thompson. HS no command guys scare me. He reminds me of a Duane Underwood type. Big arm good stuff good athlete with no strikes. He'll tantalize enough to get plenty of opportunities but he's just an up and down guy who will bounce between starting and relieving.

Obviously you move anyone in the right deal but I would trade a lot of guys before I traded Dahlquist. He has a chance to be a Dude.
