This trade sets them up to go in a bunch of different directions. I like Paxton but I'm hoping for Richards. Either would make it an excellent rotation.
This is a great trade. Lynn is a Hoss. I was really hoping they didn't have to give up Dunning but you have to give to get. The Sox are a much better team today than they were yesterday. Now get to work on that extension.
They're never that desparate to expose a prospect who was clearly not ready. They could have done a bullpen game or started Flores, Lopez or some other bum in Schaumburg. The FO made a horrible decision and it's going to hurt them this off season.
That's what he always was before that crazy jump he made last year. Like I said in the other thread it makes no sense that they exposed him this year knowing his stuff was that far down. They destroyed his value.
Couldn't agree more. I wouldn't give him away but if someone offers fair value I'm cutting bait. I don't want to be the one holding the bag when his next "thing" pops up and the trend shows something will pop up. If he defeats his demons and turns into an ace more power to him but I'm not getting burned again.
This might be true but it's a terrible strategy. Trading prospects right now in this environment just doesn't make any sense.
I disagree. They can trade the prospects they don't see being impact players before they lose their value. Stiever is an excellent example of this.
Before they hired LaRussa I thought they were going to run Mazara back out there. This Springer or Bauer or the off season is a failure narrative is bizzarre.
Lynn competes his ass off. The Sox have had too many guys who don't compete. They're at 100 pitches in the 4th damn inning. They're happy to five and dive. That ain't Lynn. He attacks the strike zone and works deep into games. He and Giolito at the top will set the tone for the rest of the staff. He's exactly what this team needs. Another guy who will get after it and compete.
I think that's a big reason why a Lynn trade could happen. The Rangers are very familiar with the Sox system. They've been working on trades the last few years so they already know who they like and who they don't. The Rangers just have realize it's best for them to trade him. It's no guarantee they will but I'm optimistic.
