  1. They're not trading Vaughn or Crochet and thise other "holes" are easily filled.
  2. The hiring of LaRussa changed the timeline.
  3. They're in win now mode and other than Bauer who they're not going to sign there are no FA pitchers as good as Lynn.
  4. Texas wouldn't take Madrigal. They're buried in 2B Rougned Odor's contract, they have Nick Solak whose best position is 2B and they just used a 1st round pick on a 2B. They need pitching.
  5. Lynn is such a great fit for the rotation. He can slide in behind Giolito and give them lots of quality competitive innings which is exactly what this team needs. The bullpen can take a couple days off from the five and dive guys in the back of the rotation.
  6. The dope at mlbtraderumors predicted he'd get a 4yr/$68M deal. Missed it by that much.
  7. Of course he said nothing because he knows the possibility to sign with the Sox still exists so he doesn't want to burn a bridge. Stroman knew he's not a possibilty to sign with the Sox so he's free to say how morally outraged he is.
  8. He can make a bowel movement without LaRussa's approval but he can no longer use the executive bathroom.
  9. I'm fine with it too. Dunning, Stiever and lottery ticket. Maybe they'd take Lopez .
  10. I don't know how they can make a trade for Marquez that doesn't include Dunning.
  11. The scumbag is also writing a book. He's going to make life very difficult for a lot of people. So happy the Sox didn't get involved with any of this mess.
  12. He's considered a "great framer" because he's good at getting low pitches called for strikes and that's what the stat guys weigh the most. He uses that elbow out thumb down technique which is good for bringing low strikes up into the zone but if you're lazy (ahem) really bad for pitches on the corners because it's very easy to let the glove drift out of the zone.
  13. I was told there are two problems with Grandal's catching. The first is the pitchers don't trust him to put down the correct number so the pitcher has to call his own game which is something they would rather not have to think about like when they throw to McCann. The second and much bigger problem is Grandal pulls pitches on the corners out of the strike zone. As you can imagine this drives the pitchers absolutely insane to the point that there are very heated arguments about who gets to throw to who(m?). Whoever they sign and I'm told they're still talikng to McCann has to be a strong defensive catcher who is also very good at calling a game.
  14. Colorado has two good 1B in their system. They want pitching.
  15. There's no doubt they thought they were getting a different player.
  16. He doesn't have the frame to add strength and he doesn't have the swing or approach that shows he will add power. It's simple scouting.
