Steiver obviously isn't ready to be a big league pitcher. He wouldn't be here in a normal season but this isn't a normal season so hopefully this unusual experience helps him become a better pitcher down the road. I think it will.

I'm still skeptical. I'm worried about the lag time between the end of the HS/college season and the draft. What are the players going to do during that time? The top guys won't play in summer leagues for fear of injury and we could see how uncomfortable teams were with drafting guys that didn't play or played little during this last draft. Too many radical changes at once for my liking.
-
You're talking about an extremely small percentage of players.
-
They've started that with the summer PDP league. There were rumors a couple years ago MLB was trying to buy Perfect Game but those have died down. I think they're going to do moreleagues now that they moved the draft date to threw a wrench in the summer circuit. It's going to be interesting.

Still not ready to have this discussion but we're getting closer.

Docked for what? Herein lies the problem. Parents thinking little Johnny has a future in baseball. Well I have bad news. The odds are overwhelming he doesn't so stop paying these exorbitant fees for travel teams and private lessons for absolutely nothing. There are plenty of small towm leagues for kids to play and have fun and if little Johnny really is good he'll be found. Parents have to stop feeding the machine.
-
Sure so that travel team can collect year round fees and keep them from playing other sports. Kids don't have to play for the best travel teams. They just have to play.
-
It's definitely a problem. Kids are listening to the wrong people. Edit: I should say parents are listening to the wrong people.

Scouts don't want baseball robots or drill dummies. They want well rounded athletes. Competeing and using different muscle groups make better baseball players.

Elite athlete + elite makeup + elite work ethic = Superstar

That's hysterical. They brought the K zone back from the Eddie Gaedel days.

I don't know how they can use the results of this "season" to determine the future of baseball. It's only 60 games (with 1 team not playing 60) played against 9 teams, players opting out, a rash of injuries, bullshit 7 inning games and bullshit extra inning rules. I'm sure dipshit Manfred doesn't want to completely invalidate this season (even though he did just that back in June) but I don't think this "season" should be used to determine next years draft order. Just use last years draft order.

The term you're looking for is low impact. They drafted a lot of low impact players. Vaughn and Stiever are the only ones on that list with a very good chance to be high impact players. The high impact players on this team (other than Tim) were acquired thru trade or free agency which tells you everything you need to know about how they felt about their ability to draft and develop players.

If he put the change there he misses it by a foot.

Doible up the change.

Cave is only 27 yrs old. He may want to rethink the gray beard thing. Makes him look 40.

Doubled up the change. Interesting. Looks like he's trying to change the scouting reports.
