He's got 3 plus pitches and is a very good athlete. He could have been developed as a starter. Worst case he goes back to the bullpen.

Madrigal makes more contact but Mendick makes more quality contact. Running and defense is a wash.

The ball stays on the same plane for a longer period of time. That's carry or ride. Pretty much the same thing.

Carry is a type of fastball life and I don't think it's more effective than any other fastball life. Carry, ride, bore, cut, tail, sink, fade, angle, run are all types of fastball life and all are equally effective if properly located.

Fastballs on the black are also difficult to square up. We'll just agree to disagree.

Carry is fine but if it carries the ball over the heart of the plate or out of the strike zone it's useless. Gotta locate it.

Fastball command is more important than both and neither guy has that. Of the two I think Cease has a much better chance of getting to at least avg fastball command.
