  1. I wasn't on Mitchell but now I find out he has an 80 GF so I'm starting to like him a ittle more.
  2. I don't think they would. I think the would respect the top players far too much to be that selfish. I know I would never vote yes to let Mike Trout take a 75% pay cut so I could make $250k.
  3. The players did tell the owners to pound sand. Good. It's about time they stepped up and told them to F off.
  4. DeGrom was a SS in college who couldn't hit a lick. He didn't start pitching until his junior year and wasn't very good. He was drafted on arm strength and developed into one of the best pitchers in the game. It's a great story.
  5. MLB is telling young men they do not want them playing baseball. It's a bold strategy.
  6. The question you have to ask regarding Detmers is what happens if he backs up. I think he's more a 4-5 so if he backs up even a little what is he. A spot starter. A situational reliever. When it comes to floor or ceiling at the top if the draft I will always choose ceiling.
  7. All that wasted time and the best the owners could come up with is a sliding scale of paycuts. Idiots
  8. I'm probably light on Gonzales though some teams are concerned about his poor showing against Texas A&M. He could easily go to the Royals at 4 then Veen would slide to the Pirates at 7 which would be a dream scenario for them. Toronto is said to be on college arms so it's either Hancock or Meyer and I can't see Dipoto passing on Detmers. I don't see a fit with the Padres or Rockies so I put him with the Angels at 10. Jarvis is a big time spin rate/efficiency guy so I'm guessing Kyle Boddy is pounding the table for him. We'll see how big a voice he has. Guys are just sitting around watching video and his video is really good so I wouldn't be surprised if he goes in that range. Loftin is an interesting player. He's a college SS who will stay at the position and has excellent bat to ball skills. He showed some added juice this spring which will push him up the board especially in this draft where I think teams are going to shy away from high schoolers. Mitchell is a total wild card for the reasons you stated though I think the lack of power may be a bigger factor than the diabetes. He has the big tools teams pay for at the top of the draft but he's a college guy who didn't show them often enough. It's just really hard to determine what type of player you're getting here. Yes I think Ginn is drafted and signs. I think he's another comp round guy. I guess there's a possibility the Dodgers try again but that just doesn't seem like their style.
  9. I could see that but when it comes to Cleveland I figure the computer will spit out the younger guy.
  10. I thnk he'll go in the comp round. Maybe the Pirates get Abel and Kelley. Ha
  11. 18% k rate over 3 years in the SEC. 11% in 78 AB's this year. Maybe a tad high but certainly not too much and you don't know how Arkansas coached him. They may have told him we want you to do damage so don't cut down your swing with 2 strikes. That's why you evaluate the player and not the stats. I like Kjerstad fine but again not the direction I would like to see them go.

  13. They don't have proof of anything. That was an internal email that proves nothing. The players have said since day 1 they would be willing to renegotiate a new salary structure if the owners would send documnents proving their financial distress. Weeks have gone by and they still haven't sent the requested documentation but what they have done is float a salary structure they knew was a non-starter then leak bullshit propaganda to their buddies in the press to paint the players as the bad guys. The owners have to stop this crap and make a legitimate offer but they are waiting until the last minute to bully the players into a bad deal. I hope the players tell them to go pound sand.
  14. The Orioles released 37 minor leaguers. And it starts.
  15. I like Detmers. I like him a lot. Left handed starting pitching might be the rarest commidity in baseball right now and he's a polished strike thrower who can spin the shit out of it. I do however have a couple concerns. He doesn't have that wow factor you look for at the top of the draft. He has a fringe avg fastball and a solid avg change so if big league hitters spit on the curveball how is he going to get them out? Yes the fastball and change play well together and he has great spin rates so much so the analytics guys make a mess in their pants. I just worry his stuff plays against amateurs but won't against big leaguers. I love Crochets profile. Big and athletic with a plus plus fastball, above avg slider and plus change with angle and deception. The strikes have been good so I'm not worried about him remaining a starter and I'm not concerned about the lack of track record. That's the only thing he's missing and if he had that the question wouldn't be Detmers or Crochet it would be Lacy or Crochet.
  16. @DirtySox I'll give one to you. Straight up between the two, would you prefer Detmers or Crochet?
  17. Crochet. I'll take the high ceiling lefty.
  18. There are some who think Dingler is better than Bailey.
  19. Yep. Now MLB is leaking internal emails to one of their many bootlickers and calling it a "smoking gun." These idiots are never going to agree to anything.
