Would you extend Nick Madrigal? For how much?
Harold's Leg Lift replied to Bananarchy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree with the defemse. He's gonna be good. I don't care about the K rate. He can double or triple that if it means he can make more consistent hard contact. His exit velocity is at the bottom of major league hitters. It's Billy Hamilton level bad without the elite speed. If he doesn't hit the ball harder I don't think he can hit it where they ain't enough against major league pitchers. -

I wasn't on Bohm. I wanted Singer or Kelenic but literally anyone else would have been fine. I would never take a low ceiling guy with the 4th pick in the draft. He's not fast. His speed is incredibly overrated. He has above avg speed. It's not plus and instincts will only get him so far in the big leagues. I was told by someone instincts is his best tool. That's a problem. -

He would need (at least) 50 attempts to get to 30 steals. Don't think they want him making that many outs on the bases. -

There are people in the organization who are not convinced he will be an everyday big leaguer. He very well could be a player like Yolmer that they look to upgrade from once he starts hitting his arbitration years. There is no reason to commit years and dollars to a player like this. -

Steve Stone: more bullpen help is coming

Rangers and Reds too. Jason Castro's 1yr/$6.85M deal makes McCann's 1yr/$5.4M look a lot more attractive. -

I would describe him as sinewy. -
White Sox Sign Robert to Extension

Roberts exit velos are very interesting. He had a 90 mph avg which is good but not elite. He hit 45% 95+ mph which is also good but not elite and 15% 105+ mph which is elite. This tells me he has to make a little more consistent hard contact because when he does he hits the everlovin shit out of it. -
It's pointless.

Covey and Fulmer both have to be gone. I actually think Fulmer is an effective bullpen guy but it's not going to be with the White Sox. They have no idea how to help him because they went away from the pitching model. They fell in love with the kid which happens and ignored all the red flags. I hope they will be able to get something for him but they probably end up just releasing him. -

Callis final mock had Burger going 10 to the Angels while Mayo had him going 15 to the Astros. Callis had the Sox taking Evan White (that's who I wanted) and Mayo had them taking JB Bukauskas.

The batting champ hitting 9th and a suspect who has never had a big league at bat hitting 2nd. Good lord people.

Rutherford's hitting metrics were pretty good last year. He had an avg exit velocity of 91 mph. 46% of his balls in play were 95+ mph and 6% were hit 105+ mph. There's power in there he just has to lift the ball more often and at 22 years old he has plenty of time to figure that out. -
How good do YOU think we can be next season?
Harold's Leg Lift replied to SonofaRoache's topic in Pale Hose Talk
82-85 wins. They're still short an impact starter, an impact bat and a couple high leverage relievers. -

Fangraphs has Chisholm as the Marlins top prospect in a very interesting system. He has a sky high ceiling. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-40-prospects-miami-marlins/ -
He had an avg exit velocity of 85 mph last year and he didn't hit a single ball harder than 105 mph. That's in the bottom 20% of all minor leagues and the bottom of MLB. It's a ton of soft contact and there is no way to tell how that will translate against big league pitchers and shifts. He simply doesn't impact the baseball.

This is good. When Kopech and Rodon are ready Gonzalez and Lopez can go to the pen. -
Well done. Destino had some crazy exit velocity numbers last year. He really hits the ball hard. He has to work on elevating it more and he's also older for his levels so he has to get moving but if he does he could be a1B/DH option going forward.
