  1. They're expecting full pay because that's what the two sides agreed to back in March. The Owners made a bad deal and now they're holding the baseball world hostage, furloughing employees, releasing/not paying players because they're mad. They can leak all the bullshit propaganda to the media they want but it's not going to change the fact that this is 100% their fault.
  2. I absolutely love Crochet but I'm not nearly as high on Kelley as so many others are. Cole Wilcox was taken in the 3rd round. I would have much rather have him over Kelley. They also could have had two high upside HS pitchers like Ben Hernandez, Kyle Harrison or Carter Baumler for what they paid Kelley. We'll see how it works out but like I said this draft was so deep with high upside players I would have liked them get as many as possible.
  3. Eugene Freedman has been an incredible source of knowledge throughout this entire "negotiation." This is even hard for me to believe. The owners are a buch of shitbags.
  4. It's now a 6 team league with the Chicago Dogs playing out of the Milwaukee Milkmen stadium. What a coincidence.
  5. Rosemont would be a good spot for the Sox taxi squad team.
  6. There are owners who don't want to play and won't unless they get exactly what they want. Kinda been saying that for a while now.
  7. I'm claiming SS Luke Leto right damn now.
  8. This draft was so deep I would have liked them to play it straight. They could have had a quality prospect in each round.
  9. Tyler Danish. I think he's a guy they got too hung up on the performance. If I remember correctly I think he only gave up 1 earned run all season and had a crazy H/IP and BB/K ratios. Stats lie especially in HS.
  10. It's a little more difficult because HS and college schedules are different. The good HS coaches still find a way to protect their pitchers but there are far too many who are only concerned about winning and overuse their best pitchers. They just run them in the ground and it's really sad to see.
  11. Putting pre-debut injury risks aside.... Does the fact that a guy like Kelley already has MLB caliber stuff and body help mitigate some of the risk? When people bring up his "now" body, that's usually a knock on him. Why wouldn't you want the guy who is guaranteed to have the right size over the guy you hope grows into that? There is a very good chance he is already maxed out which means he has to maintain his stuff for a long period of time while learning a breaking ball and improving his command neither of which are close to MLB caliber. It is much more likey that his stuff will back up during that time which is why teams look for projectable bodies that continue to get bigger and stronger. You want players who continue to get better and build up to the big leagues. Mick Abel is a perfect example of that.
  12. Lots of attrition. HS pitchers have a long ways to go to make it to the big leagues and a lot of bad things can happen along the way. That's why the vast majority of top pitchers in baseball come from college. They made thru their college years and have a much shorter path to the big leagues.
  13. Kyle Boddy will fix Joe Boyle. TECHNOLOGY!!!!!
  14. Will Klein goes to the Royals. Big arm strength, flat fastball, can't throw his BB for strikes. Hard pass.
  15. That was before they instituted the slotting syestem.
  16. You're really not understanding this process. The deal is agreed to before the pick is made. There is no hardball or negotiating after the pick. It's already agreed to and done.
  17. Damn the D'Backs took Vuck. This kid is big, athletic and has huge power. He's Dave Kingman,
  18. Hahaha Cubs took Luke Little. Dudes a carnival thrower. No chance he ever throws strikes.
  19. Jesse Franklin is a really good player. He has tools.
