  2. Brodie Van Weenie strikes again. Hires his former client to be manager. The Mets will be almost as much fun to watch crash and burn as the Astros. Almost.
  3. Health is always the concern with pitchers. If all these guys stay healthy it's going to be one hell of a spring. Dudes everywhere.
  4. A team should never draft for need but it's nice when a draft is deep in a need like this one is with college pitching. RHP Tommy Mace was 91-94 with a plus breaking ball last night. LHP Asa Lacy was also up to 94 last night. Garrett Crotchet has been up to 97 this fall and Cade Cavalli up to 98 with a power BB and that's not even mentioning the three top guys in RHP Emerson Hancock, RHP Cole Wilcox and RHP JT Ginn. I think they will have their choice of a few floor/ceiling college pitchers at 11 as all these guys have a chance to develop into a top of the rotation guy.
  5. Analytics say Grandal is an elite catcher. Baseball people do not. Bruce: Yasmani Grandal was fantastic for the Brewers last year but will be 31 years old next season. Is he worth a 3-4 year contract at that age and will he get one? Keith Law: The gap between the industry view of him and the online community’s (stat-based, especially framing-based) view of him is wider than it is on any other free agent, I think
  6. There are a few college LHP who could be in the mix. Garrett Crochet (Tennessee) has been up to 97 this fall with a plus breaking ball. Consistent strikes have been an issue. Asa Lacy (Texas A&M) and Reid Detmers (Louisville) are pitchability guys who have seen a bump in velo this fall. Jake Eder and Hugh Fisher (both Vandy) are also guys who could make a jump in the spring. It's a very deep college pitching class.
  7. The Chaim Bloom era is off to a roaring start.
  8. I wonder who made the first phone call on this. Was this something the Rangers proposed and they said sure what the hell or if they were actually shopping this bullshit around the league and found a taker.
  9. The way too early top 11 mock draft: 1. Detroit Austin Martin SS Vandy 2. Baltimore Emerson Hancock RHP Georgia 3. Miami Cole Wilcox RHP Georgia 4. Kansas City Spencer Torkelson 1B Arizona St 5. 10. The Yankees also have a bunch of money coming off after the '20 season in Tanaka ($23M), Ellsbury ($21M), LeMaheiu ($12M) and possibly Happ ($17M but has vesting option). They can easily backload any contract because they're the freakin Yankees.
  11. This narrative that the Sox don't have anything to trade is getting ridiculous. You don't know how other teams value their players. Just because they're not on some bullshit list doesn't mean they don't have value and the Sox have plenty of financial flexibility to take on salary and matchup great with teams looking to move contracts. They're in a very good position and I hope they take advantage of it.
  12. I think this off season is going to be the opposite of last off season with the big market teams being very aggressive and throwing their weight around. That's why I think the Sox should go heavy in the trade market. If (giant if) they're creative there could be some very good deals to be had.
  13. Eaton with another big hit. Love it.
  14. Get Strasburg up. Not sure if I'm kidding....
  15. YES!!!!! Yes yes yes yes yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. I'm really not liking the way this game is going.
  17. The Astros are run by a bunch of assbags. I've never wanted a team to lose more in my entire life.
  18. Wheeler, who could scare some teams off with an injury history that includes two seasons (2015-16) lost to Tommy John surgery, further arm troubles in ‘17 and a short stint on the injured list this July with right shoulder fatigue. Those concerns aside. I wish it were that easy. Writers......
  19. Atta boy, Eaton!!!!! That ball was freakin crushed!
  20. Nimmo is one of Van Weenie's clients. That's his guy. He's more likely to sign him to an extenstion than he is trading him away.
  21. I still can't figure out how a guy who led the league in passed balls three times and was benched in the playoffs twice for his horrific catching is (analytically) considered a great catcher.
