Not Abel's best inning but you can clearly see there's a lot to like there. Big strong with a clean easy del and late life on the fastball. And that slider is dirty.
With the extra roster spot next year I wouldn't be surprised if they go with McCann, Zavala and Collins as the catchers. Collins will catch once a week when there's a really tough righty on the mound. The other days he'll rotate between 1B and DH.
I don't want him anywhere near the top of the order. I don't want the least impact hitter getting the most at bats. The top of the order should be:
1. Robert
2. Moncada
3. Eloy
Larry: It looks like Zack Collins made a swing adjustment. How do you think it will affect his future outlook?
Keith Law: I just saw him Tuesday. He did not make a swing adjustment. He was also atrocious behind the plate.
No home runs hit on the first day but there were some big velos. Travis Sthele 93-96 Jared Jones 91-94 Mick Abel 89-93 Cade Horton 91-93 Case Williams 90-93 LHP Dax Fulton 89-93. Tanner Witt and Jace Bohrofen had a couple hits.
The Area Code games start today. Last year there were 2 home runs hit in the entire event and both were by Illinois guys. Jason Hodges and JD Gladney. I think many more will be hit this week.
