Place the blame where you feel it belongs

Rick Hahn. He literally begged Reinsdorf for a rebuild to buy himself extra time then 3 years later he begs Reinsdorf (a spending adverse owner) to drop $300M on one player. He and he alone is responsible for the position the White Sox are in today. -
Why you should not want Reinsdorf to sell the SOX

This thread made my head explode. -
That's the point. They have a chance to draft a guy in Jr or Abrams who can at least be above avg at the most difficult position to fill. They can find a 1B anywhere. The chance to draft a difference making SS is extremely rare and should not be passed up.

I don't think Espino is going to be an option for them. I think teams are starting to stay away from the fireballing 100mph + HS pitcher because the recent history is so bad. These guys peak too early and have no where to go but backwards. Kolek and Greene have already had TJ and Riley Pint is anywhere near as good as he was during his draft year. Someone will take a chance on him but I don't think it will be in the top half of the 1st round.

JJ Bleday hit a ball about 9 miles today. He's not going to be an option at 1-3 but whoever does pick him is going to get a real nice player.

Baseball front offices are playing chess. The White Sox are playing tic tac toe. -
Awesome thank you! Pretty surprised he has Vaughn ahead of Jr and Abrams. Also surprised he's that high on Carroll. I just didn't see it. Where did he have Riley Greene?
-
KLaw dropped his top 30 draft list. If someone can post it or at least the top 10 would be much appreciated.
-
Ugh. I have no faith in that guy. He has a slow bat. I'll be shocked if he makes it out of AA. Terrible pick.
-
Vaughn isn't nearly athletic enough for 3B. You might be able to get away with playing him in LF for a couple/few years before permanently moving him to 1B.

Ri.Justice still loves the White Sox (or is on JR payroll)

Which is absolutely crazy. Hahn has slow played all the minor leaguers and the one guy he actually should slow play he's going to rush to the big leagues. Madrigal needs time in the minors to get a hell of a lot stronger and to figure out what he's going to do with all the high fastballs (knee high to anyone else) he's going to see. If he' ins the big leagues this year it will be a huge mistake. -
If Jr is there they have to take him. Kid can do it all. I really like Abrams but I think Jr will hit a little more and hit for more power and I'll take the bat over Abrams game changing speed. I think they will both be above avg SS.
-
I would add - Don't draft a 5'5" 2B
-
That's where I am with Vaughn. If they do take him I won't be nearly as pissed off as I was with the Madrigal pick because at least this dude can do some damage. This is the Sox only chance to get a guy who can have the biggest impact on a game. They're not getting one thru a trade and they're sure as hell not getting one thru free agency so it has to be thru the draft. Enough of the safe guys. Get a god damn difference maker.
-
I saw him in the Northwoods a couple times. It's a little unorthodox with the open stance, high hands and high back elbow but he makes it work. He's quick to the ball and make a lot of hard contact. I wouldn't be upset if they take him at 1-3. I think there are guys with higher ceilings but Stott has a nice combination of floor and ceiling.

LHP Nick Lodolo (TCU) is a guy the industry has been waiting on to breakout. He has everything you look for in a pitcher. Frame, athleticism, arm action, delivery and stuff but for whatever reason he hasn't been able to put it all together. Lefties take a little longer to develop and If he does he could be a top of the rotation guy. Just not sure you want to take that risk at 1-3.
-
I also question how much you can improve a 27 yr olds hip mobility to improve a "skill" that is incredibly difficult to quantify.
-
Preller is a fantastic talent evaluator. The guy knows a good baseball player when he sees one. Hahn is just a smart guy with a lot of advanced degrees who knows absolutely nothing about how to put a baseball team together. He should have stayed in a courtroom because he's overmatched in a baseball arena.

Good talk Russ

It's a very difficult job. Maaaaaaaaaaybe lighten up a little......

Hey KLaw, Remember that time 10 years ago you misevaluated an unconventional college lefties slider!?! Yea!!! Suck on that, KLaw!!! You seem fun.

Hey KLaw, remember that time 10 years ago you and the entire industry were wrong about one of the most unconventional pitchers in baseball history?!? Yea! Suck on that, KLaw!!!!!
