2023-24 NFL Season Thread
Harold's Leg Lift replied to CentralChamps21's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I'm looking forward to a new coaching staff and a new QB next year. There are players here to be really excited about but Poles has to hit on all of the above. If he does this team actually has a chance to be special. -
Chill, Bruh.
-
I don't think that's the longterm vision of the team. I think this is a one year snap back for things that were so grossly ignored for so long. They're going to add power hitters but it's going to take a little time. This team is way too terrible to fix in one off season.
-
Strongly disagree with the first part. Strongly agree with the second part.

No more over/under slot. They're too fucking stupid to outsmart the system. They keep trying and they keep fucking it up. Just take the best player in every round and pay them slot. Listen to your scouts in rounds 3-10. They'll find the players who have some upside and will sign for slot. No more college seniors who sign for $10,000 and are released in 3 months. That's how you end up with zerp depth in your minor league system.

Tony La Russa Adamant He Is Not The Decision Maker
Harold's Leg Lift replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He's an advisor to Reinsdorf. He was an advisor to Reinsdorf before he was manager. It's no different than before except everyone now is on hyper LaRussa alert. -
Damn. Katz is freakin useless.

no clue

I don;t think this takes the Dodgers out of the running especially if they miss on Yamamoto.
-
I think they need to get him out of the clubhouse. Eloy may be a good guy but he doesn't do what's neccessary to get himself ready in the off season or to play a game. With the new direction of the organization I don't think they want that type of bad influence around the new players they're gonna bring in. He's had plenty of chances. It's time to move on.

I just did a little reading on this guy and holy crap he has more red flags than downtown Moscow. He's only 25 but he's already thrown a ton of innings in Japan with very high pitch counts. He's an extremely undersized (5'8") right hander w/a violent delivery and he throws A TON of splitters. I get the stuff is really good but when (not if) this guy breaks there may be no repairing him. Caveat emptor.

I LOVE Trey Sweeney. He and Lux playing on the same infield would be really cool.
-
Those will come in the Cease trade.
-
and RF, 3B, LF, DH and 1B. Every guy underperformed last year except one. They were 29th in runs scored. All the new guys have to do is play to their averages and they can be a better offense than last year. That's how fucking awful that team was.
-
He works for the Oregon St softball team. There's a Madrigal joke there but I won't make it.

The pitching staff is ecstatic. This is a massive defensive upgrade over the turd they ran out there for the last 4 years.

2024 White Sox Top 10 Prospects
Harold's Leg Lift replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in FutureSox Board
Boy that's a writeup on Gonzalez. Yeesh. What he has to do is come to camp with a new swing or with a new attitude and willigness to accept coaching especially after getting his s%*# pushed in against low a pitchers. Now how this new swing will affect his hit over power profile (yikes) remains to be seen. -

Ohtani taking his talents to Toronto would be an all-time shocker. Can't wait to see how this contract is structured. -
2024 White Sox Top 10 Prospects

The guy I talked to said he doesn't get to enough balls that an everyday big league SS simply has to get to. Said he's gonna real good at 3B. -

No s%*#, Jon. -
Rule 5 draft is today. There are some interesting arms available. CJ Van Eyk's ceiling is likely a Jimmy Lambert type long reliever/spot starter role but he has a good chance to stick on the roster all season. Cole Wilcox and Matt Sauer will be a little riskier but they have middle of the rotation starter potential. They both really need a run of good health. Justin Slaten could be a high leverage back of the bullpen reliever.

MLB 2024 Draft Lottery - Sox pick #5
Harold's Leg Lift replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Surefire starter for me. 70 fastball w/an 80 slider. It's an absolute death hammer of a pitch. The change needs work but that's simply because he never has to throw it and he easily has the feel to make it an avg pitch. He checks all the boxes. Dude can be special. -
MLB 2024 Draft Lottery - Sox pick #5
Harold's Leg Lift replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not sure those guys will ultimately be the best players and outside of Burns and Cags who will likely end up a hitter I don't think any of the other top pitchers have significant reliever risk. -
MLB 2024 Draft Lottery - Sox pick #5
Harold's Leg Lift replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That's because the draft has been run by fucking idiots. The scouts know the players better than Jeremy Haber's computer does. Get the hell out of their way and let them do their job. The results will show.
