  1. Well, they don’t see it as an issue because they are usually short-term deals for less money overall. However, all those millions add up.
  2. Yep, the Cubs did it with Bryant but the much more frugal White Sox won’t do it with Robert and Madrigal. Honestly, I think the Sox would be stupid not to do it.
  3. They could both hit .500 in Spring Training and not make the opening day roster. You are kidding yourself.
  4. You’re welcome for informing the ill-informed.
  5. People said that Eloy wouldn’t be on the opening day roster before this season started. He then signed a long term contract before the season started which made the service time issue not matter. Unless Robert or Madrigal sign a long term deal like Eloy did, they won’t be on the opening day roster next season. It isn’t due to Charlotte being playoff bound. What is so difficult to understand?
  6. Someone who cares about the truth? I’m not arguing it isn’t the right decision to hold them down to get the extra year of service time but trying to say it’s because of the Charlotte Knights being playoff bound is a joke.
  7. Eloy signed a long-term extension before the season started. How does he relate?
  8. Robert and Madrigal won’t be up until a few weeks into next season to extend their service time another year, not because Charlotte is playoff bound.
  9. This isn’t the real reason Robert won’t be up.
  10. Just like Hawk was a mouthpiece for Reinsdorf and the front office, Stone has now filled that role.
  11. Steve Stone is preparing Sox fans for a disappointing offseason of dumpster diving so the Sox can maintain “financial flexibility.” And a couple more pieces, Steve? Did Bill Walton leave his stash in the booth for Steve to find? It’s already being planned out, folks.
  12. It won’t be a surprise at all. People may want Castellanos over Puig but he switch agents to Boras during the start of the season. Between Castellanos’s hot streak and Boras, the Sox aren’t likely to enter the bidding war this offseason.
  13. And guess what? This is what happens when people have a koosh job for life and are tight with their boss. There is no threat of him losing his job so he can just coast.
  14. It’s pretty obvious that he’s extremely out-of-shape and lazy. It looks like he doesn’t want to get off his ass most of the time. ?
  15. I understand calling up Cease and letting him learn on the go but man, maybe it was a year too early heh. Hopefully, he goes the Giolito route.
  16. The lineup is so much better with Timmay and Moncada. Next year should be fun with Robert and Madrigal set to replace a couple holes in our lineup, sign a free agent RF, and find a DH somewhere (Yermin?) until Vaughn is ready.
  17. Yes, because Passan was talking about right fielders, not first basemen / DH types.
  18. Happy to be wrong. Now we need Lopez to get his ERA below 5. That would be a success.
  19. Yikes... ”Abreu can enter free agency after the season, but a multiyear extension is likely in the works.”
  20. No surprise that it wasn’t a local beat guy. They are gutless chumps and worry more about their relationship with the team and managers than asking the tough questions. Great questions by Fegan.
  21. Wasn’t the Sox payroll within the top 10 in the MLB from 2010 through 2013?
  22. The tandem of Lopez and Castillo and bad pitch decisions, as well as Abreu’s awful glove equals the other touchdown. The Sox still lose with either pile of crap.
  23. I guess this is exactly the point. If Jerry isn’t willing to do that, then the Sox aren’t serious about winning like those other teams. I guess we will all know the answer soon enough this winter.
