The comments on their demise were well exaggerated. Harper would have been amazing from a marketing perspective. He is well worth his contract and we still need a right fielder.
My point was accurate and you can’t seem to refute it. Stone and Benetti at least serve as sleeping pills for me and many others. I was actually engaged in last night’s game and listened until the very end. That is my point.
Why do the Sox “need” Eloy in left field defensively most days? Your sentences right after this comment actually show why he shouldn’t be in the outfield.
Yes, it does. If an old burnt out hippy can keep up a conversation for an entire game, Stone needs to up his game. He has far too many periods of silence with Benetti.
I am pretty sure the majority of SoxTalk has no problem bringing Abreu back on a 1-2 year deal but no longer than that and ideally at a nice hometown discount. Most reasonable Sox fans realize that Abreu is likely on the decline but he can still be productive as a DH and part-time 1B for a year or two.
I guess my point is that it’s sad that some stoner dude with some funny comments and stories is as much or more enjoyable than a former major leaguer with legitimate insights into the game. I think the biggest difference was that there was no dead air like we are used to hearing with both Hawk and Stone.
