  1. Classic rock, heavy stuff, etc. That dude is literally repeating his lyrics over and over. It’s bad, very bad.
  2. I’m pretty sure the lyrics are related to that Brian Dennehy. Just an awful song altogether.
  3. But there are definitely levels of spending that are expected and may not be reached by Hahn. Is Alex Wood going to make you happy? That will be more than Nova’s $9 million. But that isn’t good enough. Most people are expecting more than that.
  4. At least it appears we are all on the same page this time. I just hope people don’t backtrack and make the same excuses as last offseason that so-and-so wasn’t worth that contract, I’m glad the Sox didn’t sign him, blah blah blah.
  5. I disagree. You can get a near 6 ERA from starters a lot cheaper than Nova and his $9 million dollars (see Dylan Covey). Hahn thought Nova would do a good job as a #4/#5 in the rotation and then deal him away at the trade deadline.
  6. I don’t see how you can shred a comment like this. Hahn brought in Nova, Santana, and Banuelos this past offseason as rotation guys. Did he intentionally waste $9 million on Nova thinking he would be bad? No, he thought he would be a good #4/#5 starter. He has brought in other such trash over the past few years (Paulino, Noesi, Latos, Santiago, Holland, MiGo) as rotation solutions. Did he intentionally sign the worst possible answers for his rotations? What big name starting pitchers has Hahn signed/acquired from outside the Sox organization? Big Game James nearing his retirement? Sure, Hahn will supposedly have more money to spend next offseason but does anyone trust him to spend it wisely? Why is there any reason to trust him going forward when it comes to free agency?
  7. McCann had an embarrassing .581 OPS with the Tigers last year. He was lucky to get $2.5 million guaranteed from the Sox. If he had any leverage, he would’ve signed for more than mediocre bench money.
  8. I’m not sure I’d want to trade the talent it would cost for one year of Joc with the year he is having and then pay to extend him.
  9. I think one thing to note for all the people that are excited about Cole... I think the Sox see far more risk in a long-term deal for a pitcher than for a position player due to injuries. So even while Cole will not get as much money as Machado, I would not be surprised if the Sox have more of a problem signing a guy like Cole to a long term deal than Machado, even if it is less overall money just because of the likelihood of injury to a pitcher over a position player. Also, signing a stopgap like Dickerson makes sense when you are pretty sure you will have a legit major league player ready in a couple years. Neither Rutherford nor Basabe are sure things.
  10. Every free agent is about the money. Where have you been? If you are looking for a job, do you intentionally accept the lowest offer or look for the best one?
  11. It sure does. My guess would be coaching.
  12. Moose tacos are very tasty with some spicy tomatillo sauce.
  13. At least I get to watch Tatis Jr. eat the Cubs alive.
  14. Overachieving to the tune of never even hitting .500? Who cares? Renteria and his love for the bunt can get in a time machine and go back to an era of baseball when it was relevant.
  15. Renteria, Steverson, and the entire coaching staff should be sent packing at the end of the season. But we all know it won’t happen.
  16. One of the worst lineups in Sox history? You can put it on the board, YES!!!
  17. This one wasn’t dumpster diving which makes it worse. Hahn gave Herrera $18 million guaranteed over 2 years.
  18. All good points. Many of the signs would point to the Sox not signing Cole so it’s strange to see people who are actually optimistic about the possibility.
  19. MLB.TV trolling Sox fans. One of their commercial flashbacks was Tatis Jr. hitting his first career homerun.
  20. McCann cooling down. This is why an extension would have been a bad idea.
  21. And then ran straight into non-stop injuries.
  22. Next offseason, we will all get excited once again about the chance at signing a big name like Gerrit Cole and Hahn will wind up signing a second tier “value guy” like Alex Wood.
