I don’t see Yolmer as a sweetener in any trade due to his salary and performance. He is earning $4.625 million for this year and will get a bump via arbitration in the offseason. If we don’t want him, why would some other team?
Yes, Madrigal was also considered the best hitter in the draft when the Sox took him. I don’t know how much credit I give the Sox on picking two guys that were pretty much best player available when they drafted. Just like I don’t give the Cubs any credit for drafting Bryant. I just think the Astros whiffed.
Castillo won’t be here next year. Collins will. And you aren’t getting anything for Castillo in a trade. This move makes no sense but then again, nothing the Sox have done with Collins makes much sense. They called him up to sit on the bench.
