  1. They really need to try someone new. His ass kissing and over exaggerated fake excitement is old and tired.
  2. It was moreso because it was an immediate 4 pitch walk to the leadoff hitter.
  3. Both did. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/white-soxs-attempts-to-recruit-machado-may-have-backfired-as-alonso-jay-spoke-highly-of-san-diego/
  4. Gio can’t find the plate again.
  5. Good, use his desire to be here to your advantage and lowball his ass. ?
  6. What’s up with Freddie Freeman’s grill? He looks like this...
  7. Hitting a bunch of solo homers, striking out a lot, and playing horrible defense for 417 at bats isn’t really a proven track record. And then he followed it up for 1 for 45 this year. He is the perfect DH for a low (cheap) payroll team like the Rays. Maybe they will sign him once he is out of the Sox organization.
  8. I did notice that. But I doubt Steverson is the guy to make something out of Reed in half a season. It’s all up to Reed at this point.
  9. I don’t think there’s any developing. He basically has a half season or less to show something. If he doesn’t, he likely goes the way of Alonso and Palka.
  10. True, I guess we could always trade one of them. Based on most of the draft talk, Vaughn will only be able to play 1B.
  11. Just look at the positives. Once he fails, we can relive the experience with Yermin.
  12. He is listed as 6’4”, 275. He’s a big boy. Frank was listed as 6’5”, 275 in his later years. lol I guess if Reed hits, no one will care. I did see this article that says Reed showed up to Spring Training down 25 pounds: https://www.mlb.com/news/aj-reed-ready-to-help-astros-in-2018-c266781456
  13. I was just joking around. I don’t really have a preference between Reed and Yermin and who gets the first crack at DH. They are a similar age at 26 but Reed has a couple more things going for him than Yermin. He’s a lefty bat and the Sox have apparently liked him for awhile. Reed said the Sox have tried trading for him in the past but the Astros wanted too much in return. However, Yermin has the better most recent AAA stats.
  14. If you assume that Abreu will be extended and Reed shows some production, he will at least have a job at DH next season until Vaughn is ready. At this point, I don’t see a scenario where Abreu isn’t back next year so I guess the key for Reed is tearing it up quickly and how long will Abreu be extended for. The perfect storm would be Reed tearing it up in the second half, signing Abreu for one more year, and Vaughn being ready after the 2020 season. But I doubt we are that lucky or that Abreu would settle for a one year deal.
  15. Yermin has better numbers this year but without the prospect pedigree. Ultimately, is there much of a difference who gets a shot first? If Reed sucks, Yermin may get his shot next. [Lillian] Also, Yermin isn’t a lefty bat! [/Lillian]
  16. Reed will be wearing #24. Unacceptable for the Sox to give this guy Matt Davidson’s number. What do you think about that, Greg?
  17. Well, that escalated quickly. Lillian gets her wish. It does make sense to see what he can do in the second half before you have no time and then need to decide whether you keep him or not. The Sox have been DH’ing Jay and Rondon afterall.
  18. Lou Canellis comes on and I’m pretty sure I heard him say that McCann signed with the Sox for $519,000 dollars. These guys are awful.
  19. This morning, Phil Rogers on The Score said that McCann is his biggest surprise this year and then went on to say that the Tigers non-tendered him because they would have had to pay him $8 to $10 million dollars via salary arbitration. The Tigers last signed McCann in 2018 for $2.375, avoiding arbitration, and he went on to have a bad 2018 season. Somehow, McCann was going to get a $6+ million dollar raise via salary arbitration? Where do these “so called” baseball experts come up with this stuff?
  20. “For all intensive purposes,” I think you should “borrow” him some forgiveness.
