  1. Insane expectations. How in the heck do you not realize this after typing out that slash line? .350 / .400 / .508 / .908 Seriously? ?
  2. Peggy Kusinski’s kid apparently made that trade fall through?
  3. Which was the greatest nickname of all time because of how it came about. ?
  4. Not sure this is a great argument after the show he put on. But yeah, it would have been cool to see Eloy in it.
  5. Blasphemy! Next, you will be trying to say that Abreu won’t be able to hit until he’s 40.
  6. But that could very well be a reason the Sox give Reed the first shot. Skole has no future with the Sox due to his age. The Sox have given Engel numerous chances. He can play defense but he can’t hit in the majors. Also, the Sox have an opening at DH now and in the near future. We already know who the long-term solution is for CF. But I agree with you. After Palka failed for the second time, if the Sox decide to send Collins back down they should give the DH position to either Yermin or Reed.
  7. So basically the ridiculously juiced ball has now replaced steroids. Verlander called out the juiced ball, which may or may not be ironic depending on what you believe.
  8. Skole is turning 30 at the end of the month. Pass. Mercedes is still 26 like Reed at least.
  9. Reed’s first career major league HR was against what team and reliever?
  10. Eh, they put a “/DH” in there. If Abreu isn’t resigned for more than one year, it could be true.
  11. It’s nice to take a flier on this guy cuz he’s still relatively young (just turned 26) but there’s probably only a microscopic chance he becomes the hitter that Abreu already is. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. And if Reed does magically pan out and can put up anywhere near his .282 .374 .540 .914 career minor league line in the majors, we should all be ecstatic. I don’t think this claim has much to do with Abreu or Vaughn. It’s just that Hahn saw a former top prospect that is still somewhat young get cut loose so he pounced. He has been doing this often over the years.
  12. Yolmer is already a superstar. Gatorade is putting the finishing touches on an 8 digit contract offer for him as we speak.
  13. White Sox claimed 1B A.J. Reed off waivers from the Astros; optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte. Reed got designated for assignment by Houston last week. The former top prospect was batting .224/.329/.469 with 12 home runs and 35 RBI in 56 games this season for Triple-A Round Rock. He could join the White Sox as a bench bat at some point in the second half and might move into a more prominent role if Jose Abreu is traded. I don’t see this happening though. The second bolded portion that is.
  14. Yeah, the awful Houston regime that lost Johan Santana in the Rule 5 draft and released J.D. Martinez is long gone.
  15. Yeah, wasn’t it Francis Martes, A.J. Reed, and Garrett Stubbs because Alex Bregman was off limits?
  16. Agreed but easier said than done. It’s too bad that Reed wasn’t available last offseason. He would have been the perfect guy to give a bunch of DH at bats to over Alonso this season.
  17. He was as high as #11 on Baseball America’s list in 2016.
  18. I believe the issue is that this guy has a massive hole in his swing but who cares. If he sucks, he can go the way of Conor Gillespie’s brother Casey, playing in the independent league. Maybe he can get hotter than shit at Charlotte and fill in at DH next year as a stop-gap until Vaughn is ready (assuming Abreu is extended). Very doubtful but worth a shot.
  19. Some poster here called for this claim and got ripped for it. Hahn will take a shot on anyone who was a former top prospect and is still youngish and rightfully so. Nothing to really lose.
  20. I did notice that in his numbers but I didn’t realize it’s already been that long since his surgery.
  21. I realize $9 million isn’t much for a starting pitcher and he was a stopgap solution this year. I just hope Hahn aims higher next offseason, and I’m not expecting Cole or Bumgarner either.
  22. I don’t believe in Fulmer much but why not a guy like Burdi?
