  1. Hahn’s offseason speaks for itself. He acquired two good players. The rest were a waste of $32 million. But good closers aren’t exactly tough to identify. It’s the middle relievers that require some luck.
  2. I don’t either. I agree with you. Colome has decided to have one of the best starts of his career. You have to sell high on him. I don’t think Abreu will bring back much but I wouldn’t mind seeing what the potential return would be. Hahn can always sign another closer and resign Abreu in the offseason. I don’t think these decisions are tough to make. They make a ton of sense.
  3. I would hope for a younger better prospect for Colome but wouldn’t complain if ultimately Happ is the return. I think he is still worth taking a chance on and could be plugged into one of the two holes in the lineup (RF or 2B). Then, throw your free agent money at a starter.
  4. Kopech Giolito Cease Lopez I would sign one big FA starter. I’m not writing off Lopez yet but I wouldn’t count on Rodon anymore. Honestly, one big pitcher and one big position player signing would be a good offseason. Just no more wasting money on a collection of aged vets.
  5. All good names except Pederson now. He has been amazing this year but with only one more year of control after this season, I don’t think he makes much sense as a target.
  6. Thanks Cali and agreed. I do repeat myself a lot, haha. Working on it. It will be exciting to get Cease into the rotation. I don’t think Rendon fits now with Moncada at 3B and Madrigal drafted so high. Cole would be amazing but may be out of our price range. Would Ozuna be the next best available free agent?
  7. Oh, the irony. You’re still wrong though.
  8. Your first assumption seems expected but not so sure about 2B.
  9. McCann was a good signing but I find it hilarious that you seem to buy into his flukey stats more than Machado who has done it year after year.
  10. Hilarious is spending more money than Machado is making this year on the likes of Alonso, Nova, Herrera, and Jay. Three guys you don’t want to see playing for the Sox and one guy who is getting paid $4 million to not play for them.
  11. I think Happ is who the Cubs offer for Colome. They plan on moving him for a reliever and I think their CarGo signing indicates that.
  12. Go take a look at his home/away splits. No one hits well at PetCo. GRate would have been a big difference for him.
  13. Yes, cuz these less than half a season of stats are the numbers Machado will always produce going forward. Just like McCann will be an Allstar catcher for the rest of his career. Hahn is paying Alonso, Nova, Herrera, and Jay more than what Machado is making this year. I’ll take Machado this year and going forward over those bums.
  14. If he signs for one year, he will want the most money and the best chance to win. The Yankees can offer both. The Sox, not so much.
  15. No, they didn’t. Enough of this BS. It isn’t true. $250 million guaranteed with incentives is not as good as $300 million guaranteed. Machado didn’t “want to go to San Diego.” He went to the team that offered him the most guaranteed money, plain and simple.
  16. Let’s be honest and realistic. Why would he ever go to the Sox over the Yankees for one year?
  17. Yes, and McCann’s stats over his career damn well tell you that you shouldn’t jump to give him an extension since this is not the player he has ever been.
  18. A few key points in considering spending money on Keuchel have been mentioned — how much money, how many years, and how long has he been away from the game. But also, don’t forget this point — do you have any faith that Hahn won’t waste money on even more garbage veterans next offseason? He spent around $32 million on Alonso, Nova, Herrera, Jay, and Santana. That would have covered some of Keuchel’s contract for 4 years. Keuchel is a risk but is he worse than the bums Hahn already signs?
  19. Yes, I can imagine but only one of them will be working his way back next season (Kopech). Colome will only be here for one more year at likely $10 million. Trade him for a young power hitting OF with 5-7 years of control and making shit money and enjoy. Spend that $10 million saved on your next Colome.
  20. I don’t care how close they are. You have to trade Colome at his ridiculous peak of value. If the dude can net a full time position player, you have to move him.
