What about the reaction when the Sox miss on both Machado and Harper?
-
It says a decision could come by Tuesday... what’s wrong with what he posted?
-
I agree. It was widely discussed that both guys would be looking for $300+ million over 10 years since Stanton set the standard most recently. Why bother meeting with Harper early in the process? If they truly thought $250 million was going to be enough to land either player, they are delusional.
-
? Jon Jay doesn’t make any major league team watchable.
-
Maybe “stupid” isn’t the correct word but what would you call thinking non-guaranteed incentive-based money is better than guaranteed money in a contract offer? Maybe “out of touch with reality”?

Sullivan: No matter how much $ is spent, it's never enough for fans
Moan4Yoan replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Sox have spent $45 million this offseason on mostly mediocre acquisitions. A lowball offer of $250 million that isn’t accepted isn’t the same as spending $250 million. Sullivan is a hobbit troll who should stay in his cave. -
2005 was luck in that almost all of Kenny’s dumpster diving moves hit and were successful.
-
This is likely the case. I don’t see JR signing off on a historic contract with Boras.
-
In hindsight, I’m sure many people would rather have Davidson and Avi still on the team over the more expensive duo of Alonso and Jay. But these same people didn’t expect Hahn to fail so miserably and whiff on Machado.
-
I don’t expect a next time since they have shown their true colors regarding attempting to acquire the top targets but I would agree with you that they will try to be completely silent on free agent signings in the future since this offseason has backfired on them so hilariously.
-
If Abreu has another declining season, it should be obvious to the Sox to pass. But they will probably just use it to extend him on the cheap instead.
-
I’d rather have neither in CF. Both serve no purpose to the Sox going forward. Give Leury CF starts and then trade him.
-
I’m hoping iamshack says we are. That could flip this offseason upside down. Harper to the Sox would be a dream come true.
-
Could you be more specific? This is a bit vague. I would love to hear the details. It would be amazing if Harper is in a Sox uniform by Monday.
-
Will Harper sign with the Phillies or Sox? I would love to hear your prediction based on your sources. As far as my comments on WSD, this is all anyone needs to hear... https://www.barstoolsports.com/boston/breaking-white-sox-dave-is-dead-he-is-now-a-mouse-of-a-man

i think Palka playing RF and trying to hit a bomb every at bat makes them more watchable than Adam Jones or CarGo. Plus, watching Palka attempt to play defense in the outfield is hilarious.
-
Harper will sign with the Phillies sometime soon. Don’t forget I said this. I want credit for it once it happens. ?

Just like everyone sharing WSD’s tweets about being positive the Sox would sign Machado, lol. He spent all offseason spouting on and on about how the Sox would land a whale and once Hahn failed, he reverted to saying that the Sox don’t need Machado or Harper cuz their young prospects are all studs. ”Insiders.”
-
I don’t care if it’s sourced or not. Anyone who can’t use common sense and realize that the Yankees aren’t going after Harper isn’t worth the Twitter follow. Machado made waaaay more sense for the Yankees than Harper and they didn’t get serious with their offer for him. This guy’s reasoning and opinion is apparently terrible. He likely knows nothing.
-
He also thinks the Yankees are one of the “mystery teams”, which is just about the last team that would need to sign yet another high-priced outfielder. He is another “insider”...
-
It’s funny how so much money is thrown around all the time by JR but he is concerned about signing a Hall of Fame player. The Sox spent $45 million this offseason on crap. The Bulls traded for Otto Porter and his remaining $55 million. Big money that won’t lead to winning for either team. JR’s teams are just an embarrassment. We need new ownership for both teams.
-
Seriously. I don’t care about Hector’s vague tweets anymore. He doesn’t know anymore than the “insiders” on this board. This has been the offseason of “insiders” trying to make names for themselves and epically failing at it.
-
Then I probably wouldn’t draft a David Eckstein type.
-
They should be hiding from both Sox and Bulls fans.
