Haha, I was about to post this... 1996 ?

Please be legit and not the ghost of J. Michael Robertson... https://mobile.twitter.com/jmrobertson143

Okay, what would be number one on your list?
-
Insider info? Hopefully better than the Machado to Sox is a lock sources...
-
So what should upset fans do to voice their anger about the direction of their favorite baseball team in your opinion?
-
Lawrence Holmes is awful and kisses the asses of all of his guests. He does not ask tough questions. Danny Parkins is the best and has no shame in challenging a guest with all the tough questions — see John Paxson podcast from a couple weeks ago.
-
What things do they do best in your opinion?
-
We aren’t the Dodgers or Yankees but we also aren’t the Rays or Marlins either. Ten years for top talent is the current standard. These were two 26 year old future Hall of Famers. Yes, it was worth the risk. Who going forward will be more worth signing than these two guys considering their ages, talent, lack of competition for signing them, and timing of the Sox rebuild?
-
So what is your proposed solution? Allow the current front office to continue to attempt to build a yearly fluke winner by signing cheap veteran retreads and miss out on the playoffs for another ten years straight? Fire everyone in the front office and start from scratch? What would you specifically recommend?
-
Man, too bad the Padres front office wasn’t worried about running up the cost on Machado when they made the Sox front office look like absolute ass clowns.
-
We were already in a neverending cycle of mediocre records and missing the playoffs. If you don’t make the playoffs, who really cares? Is anyone really happy with an 80-82 or 82-80 record? It was the right plan to rebuild but now we have confirmed that the wrong people are in charge of trying to implement the plan.
-
Yes, it will... on a collection of mediocre veteran retreads over the next ten years that the front office will think can turn it around and have career years upon signing for more than they are worth.
-
But they didn’t offer one to Machado, so who cares? If they won’t offer an opt-out to a Hall of Fame talent, they won’t offer one to any free agent until they realize why they are constantly striking out.
-
Yep, he was kind of a douche but at least he called out Sox management at times like these. Bruce Levine basically fluffed Sox management this morning on The Score.
-
No, but somewhere around 10 years and $350 million guaranteed with an opt-out should be pounced on. Harper will bring the Sox back way more in revenues than Machado would have to make up for the extra $50 million.
-
So if this is the current state of the free agent market for top free agents/future Hall of Famers (10-years, $300+ million, with an opt-out), is it even about stubbornness anymore or is it just cheapness? If you don’t offer these type of deals, you aren’t getting the player, period. So are the Sox ultimately just trying to show the fans that they tried, when they truly have no intentions of signing the player for the type of contract that is expected these days?
-
With two chances at the golden ticket this offseason, we will find out if the Sox were truly serious about spending the money they have available once Harper signs. Otherwise, it was all lies and more BS from the front office regarding using their resources to build a contender. Hahn will be dead to me if Harper isn’t in a Sox uniform after all the things he has said the past year.
-
True story and the fact that Boras is his agent makes me realize deep down that it isn’t happening if the Sox couldn’t work out a deal with Lozano. Hopefully, the Sox realize that while Harper may or may not be a more productive player statistically than Machado, he will definitely bring back a greater return on investment. If it’s all about money, here’s your chance to redeem yourselves White Sox.
-
First legitimate and appropriate tweet Olney has made in quite some time.
-
Eh, he will take the most money just like Machado. The Phillies were 2 games under .500 last year. Yes, you can assume they will be better than this but there is no guarantee that they will be a playoff contender.
-
You have absolutely zero proof that this is about JR’s ego or his cheapness or any other specific reason. I could just as easily argue the “Sox are too cheap” narrative.
-
Yep, this will happen. Just watch.
-
Nope, you are making this too complex. It was about guaranteed money... period. You yourself admit you would take the guaranteed money as well.
-
It’s hard to understand any of your comments. You just appear to be blindly defending the Sox front office and ownership. Why? I have no idea. They are failing miserably and have no clue how to handle free agent negotiations with star players.
-
A contract offer that isn’t agreed to is just another failure. Get back to me when they lock up one of these offers.
