Bwahahaha. On who? 29 year old Arenado? Sale? Trout? Nope, a collection of much cheaper retreads. It’s over Hahn, you blew it. Just admit it and be done with it.
-
Adam Jones and other such veteran retreads are still available on the cheap. You just know Hahn and Kenny are salivating...
-
Was anyone who wanted to sign Machado or Harper worried about how he will perform in 7+ years? No, of course not. It’s the added price you pay to have the Hall of Famer in his prime. Besides, that many years in the future is too hard to predict and may even be at the tailend or end of the Sox window to compete.
-
Hahn and Kenny have signed $40+ million of mediocrity and whiffed on Machado. Is this an accurate take? Are you happy about the Sox offseason?
-
And now it’s just an offer that wasn’t accepted meaning it’s a record of absolutely nothing. Oh, but you continue to bask in the glory that is being the runner-up on a future Hall of Fame free agent signing... you can categorize it up there with falling short on Alex Rodriguez when he signed with Texas! The Sox wanted Machado at their price and they got burned. They now look like epic failures and rightfully so.

Who is available in 2020? Looking ahead to the future

Now what? -
Logic actually says that the Sox wouldn’t pay up for their true target in Machado so why would they pay even more for their secondary target in Harper?
-
He was so insignificant that I forgot about him. But thanks! Another $2.5 million wasted. Just call up Zavala.
-
Yes, it will suck for their fans to watch their team win 85-95 games and make the playoffs while we watch Alonso and Jay put up a combined .700 OPS.
-
Someone please do a rundown of the mediocre crap Hahn acquired and the total cost. EDIT: I did it... let me know if I missed anyone. Nova - $9 million Alonso - $9 million Herrera - $9 million Colome - $7.325 million Jay - $4 million Almost $40 million in payroll to be “mired in mediocrity” yet again.
-
Hilarious how Hahn and Kenny got all Sox fans hopes up and made so many stupid comments regarding this chase. Now they are left with playing mediocre family and friends for a combined $13 million over younger guys. It’s obvious they had a big ego and thought they were going to land him for a steal at their lowball guaranteed deal. What a couple of absolute clowns.
-
This will truly be disgusting to watch in the coming years.
-
And when you’re a Sox fan, it rains shit.
-
Nope, this is not an adequate excuse anymore. This was the best chance at a Hall of Famer when it would only cost money, and the Sox payroll is about as low as it has been in years. Unacceptable.
-
Whoopty doo. I’ll repeat my previous edit... Runners up in the free agency game don’t get a consolation prize.
-
Preach it, brother. So true... the Padres.
-
Do you think the AAV or years matter when you are talking about $50 extra million guaranteed? The Sox failed. Runner up in the free agency game wins no consolation prize.
-
Now the Sox get clowned by The Score. Well deserved...
-
Nuff said... ”But Machado, as believed all along, wanted the $300M guarantee.”
-
Nice of you to cut out the rest of my comment... You must also believe Hahn and Kenny when they try to say $250 million guaranteed plus incentives is worth more than $300 million guaranteed. ?
-
I don’t care what he said. Do you really believe anyone in the Sox front office now? What do agents do? They get the biggest contract for their clients by pitting two or more teams against each other. Man, don’t be so gullible.
-
Fire the guy who asked about Dylan Cease. I don’t care who he is or where he works. What a clown.
-
Do you really think this is how agents work? Seriously? Lozano more than likely asked Hahn if he wanted to match or top the Padres offer.
-
Hahn also said there is no hard limit for spending money. Hahn is as bad as Kenny. Bunch of liars.
-
Hahn said he got a call from Machado’s representation (Lozano). They had a chance to match but didn’t.
