  1. This is the key. If the Sox can add a closer quality reliever, it would greatly strengthen the bullpen. I am a bit skeptical on Colome being as good as he was last year and would prefer him in a setup role. A Diaz trade and a McHugh signing would be pretty sick.
  2. I think they should consider two. Marshall and Cordero are far from sure things considering their history.
  3. https://mobile.twitter.com/Feinsand/status/1212715436883750915
  4. He could be toast but due to his performance last year and his age, he could be signed for next to nothing for a season. I wouldn’t mind adding him when our other options to fill those right-handed at bats at 2B and in RF are Leury and Engel.
  5. 3 to 4 years of rebuilding is one thing but 11 straight years of suckitude is tough to stomach. Luckily it looks like greener pastures are ahead.
  6. And he will cost a compensation pick. It’s not happening.
  7. Someone mentioned him before but Zobrist on a cheap one year deal makes some sense if he doesn’t retire and he still has something left at 38. He could start at 2B until Madrigal is ready and then platoon with Mazara in RF and also serve as a utility guy.
  8. Mac only cares about football. He basically admits he doesn’t really follow any other sports.
  9. I was listening to The Score last night and Cubs lover David Schuster was discussing the Sox moves with Scott Merkin. He actually asked Merkin if the Sox would add an infielder like Addison Russell and Merkin shut his ass down hard. Such a joke that the Cubs loving media can’t discuss another team without somehow tying the discussion back to the Cubs.
  10. I guess Nagy isn’t going to fire himself. Pace says Mitch is their guy for next year. Pace is going down with his sinking ship.
  11. I think it’s pretty bad. Homer Bailey could easily revert to his usual level of bad and Hill is ancient and won’t be ready to start the season after his surgery.
  12. Twins fans are shredding their front office because of earlier comments about acquiring “impact pitching”: “We’re going to target impact pitching,” chief baseball officer Derek Falvey said. “I think that’s going to be a big part of our focus, and try to figure out if we can get there.”
  13. So bad, I mean there’s still better options available than Hill and Bailey that they could’ve signed. So cheap.
  14. What an embarrassment. How do they sell these moves to their fans?
  15. This is the truth. The Cubs are far from broke. But the Cubs already got their World Series, Ricketts is a businessman, and now he wants the Cubs to be his cash cow and make some serious money without paying any penalties. I do think it’s hilarious that in the same offseason the Cubs may trade their star player in Bryant to stay out of the luxury tax is the same offseason they expect Cubs fans to throw them $10 to $12 bucks a month for their new network. Talk about bad timing. But Ricketts knows that Cubs fans are lemmings and will still pay up, even if the team sucks.
  16. I think they will be okay with the Rangers, Giants, and Cardinals. I think Puig will end up being the odd man out and have to settle for a short-term deal.
  17. I am actually back on the Hahn bandwagon after he managed to sign a Boras client that we needed. I liked all the acquisitions except for Mazara. I just don’t see a reason to go cheap in RF with a question mark where there were better options available. But then again, none of us will always agree on players and their talents.
  18. .290 AVG with a .380 OBP? That’s fine? He’d be one of the best 2B in the league if he hit and got on base like that. ?
  19. Joel Sherman reporting it’s done. Three year deal but no money reported. https://mobile.twitter.com/Joelsherman1/status/1211733158732935168
  20. Heyman reporting differently... https://mobile.twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/1211719995429982209
  21. The Cubs whiff again. Although not giving a 3 year deal to a 32 year old Japanese center fielder may be a blessing in disguise for them. EDIT: Nevermind. He only got 3 years, $15 million. That’s chump change. The Cubs aren’t spending any money this offseason. https://mobile.twitter.com/Kazuto_Yamazaki/status/1211711548923596801
  22. Renteria should’ve been canned then. ?
  23. Perhaps not if it’s earmarked for extensions to Giolito, Moncada, Robert, Madrigal, etc.
