If you ever listen to his radio show with Spiegel, he is a condescending a-hole so he is getting what he deserves. He thinks he’s god’s gift to Chicago sports reporting and throws barbs at his co-host if he disagrees with some of the stupid crap he says.
Mazara could definitely be moved elsewhere. I’m not saying it will happen but there were other teams interested in him. The Marlins were interested. They might be willing to give up a reliever for him.
There is a recent rumor that the Sox are still going after Puig, even after signing Encarnacion.

Some people are interpreting it as the Sox playing games with Castellanos and Boras so they lower their demands because he’s the outfielder the Sox truly want.
Joc doesn’t make much sense anymore with Mazara being a lefty and both Mazara and Joc being bad against lefty pitching. A right-handed outfielder makes sense now.
Who do you want tough? Betances was probably the best option and now he’s off the board. The reliever market is now basically a bunch of old fluky guys with Will Harris, Collin McHugh, and Craig Stammen leading the pack.
Now that Betances is off the board, there’s Will Harris and Collin McHugh. Most of the other reliever options are either old, fluky, or bad. I think Hahn will nab one good reliever and sign some of the other guys to minor league flier deals.
True, and oh so fun to watch as they get screwed by the delayed Bryant grievance decision.
They are also going to lose out on their number one free agent target this offseason to the Reds — 32 year old CF Shogo Akiyama. Pathetic.
Why would any player’s agent push their client to take less money, just to join his countrymen? Typically, the more money the player gets, the more money the agent gets.
And Mazara isn’t good at it either so that’s not a great reason to sacrifice a better bat.
Do we even know if Castellanos is far worse than Mazara in RF defensively?
Starling Marte is a Pirate. Fathom suggested trading Collins and Mazara to the Marlins because they were interested in Mazara before the Sox acquired him. I don’t believe Fathom ever mentioned a potential return from the Marlins.
Also, Marte is a much better player than Mazara. What does handedness matter at that point?
Maybe this is additional protection against the inevitable injuries that Eloy tends to suffer from the minors to his first season in the majors? I know I don’t want to see Adam Engel or Ryan Cordell starting in the outfield ever again.
I seem to remember hearing this in the past as well but here are some past quotes from Abreu:
https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/puig-and-abreu-face-off-in-dodgers-white-sox-series/2084777/
"It's a normal day. We're going to take it like a normal day in the past. It's good to play against friends. He's a friend of mine,” Abreu told MLB.com about playing against Puig.
I didn’t word that very well. I thought he had some inside sources. My point was that it doesn’t sound like he knows if there is any truth to this Puig rumor.
