  1. Indeed. Wheeler got $33 million more, and it’s no sure thing that he is better than Bumgarner.
  2. It’s starting to become obvious, if it wasn’t already, that the Sox refuse to negotiate with Boras.
  3. Ryu won’t get that much, especially not now. He’s two years older than Bumgarner with injury concerns. But if this is Bumgarner’s price, the Sox have no excuses not to land either Ryu or Keuchel. They won’t get paid nearly as much as 5/$85 million.
  4. Kind of nuts not to be in on MadBum at 5/$85.
  5. I’d be fine with Encarnación only if Collins is moved for Price and Benintendi.
  6. Thought they were going to score there. Would’ve been so Bears for them to then fail on the 2 point conversion had they scored.
  7. salaries, options may increase up to $4M each based on finish in 2015-19 Cy Young votes (top 5 finish in 2018 Cy Young vote increased 2019 salary to $17M, 2020 option to $17.5M, 2021 option to $18M) assignment bonus: $1M if traded if traded in 2015-19, new club must exercise or decline both 2020 and 2021 options within 3 days after end of 2019 World Series if traded in 2020, 2021 option converts to a vesting option guaranteed if Kluber has 160 innings pitched in 2020 and is not on the disabled list at the end of the 2020 season https://legacy.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/al-west/texas-rangers/ Kluber gets an additional $1 million since he was traded. Technically, Kluber was traded in 2019 so I’m not sure the fourth bullet point applies. But I didn’t realize his 2020 and 2021 team option salaries increased, as you can see in the first bullet point.
  8. How do you not challenge that? Also, why can’t our franchise QB throw a spiral?
  9. Some of the worst tackling I pray I will never have to see again.
  10. Kluber has two team options remaining for 2020 and 2021. 2020: $13.5M club option ($1M buyout) 2021: $14M club option ($1M buyout)
  11. That has yet to be seen if the Red Sox truly want to dump salary. And the Indians weren’t dealing Kluber to the Sox anyways.
  12. Good point. Kluber’s remaining deal is much more team friendly and the Rangers still gave up next to nothing — a decent looking reliever and a fourth outfielder.
  13. I will continue to hope we add a righty bench outfielder/utility so Engel can stay a defensive sub.
  14. Indeed. Spend some damn money and win some divisions while the Indians are rebuilding and the Twins could’ve been a fluke season.
  15. What an absolutely garbage trade. They must think Clase is the real deal.
  16. 33 and under contract via team options for the next two seasons... 2020: $13.5M club option ($1M buyout) 2021: $14M club option ($1M buyout)
  17. I don’t get the Rich Hill comparison. May throws a lot harder than Hill.
  18. Sounds like this is all but announced... https://mobile.twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/1206258764267081734
  19. Agreed. That is a great return for two years of Lindor which would easily compete with the returns for Sale and Quintana IMO.
  20. Hates Collins yet likes the Mazara acquisition, who is proven mediocrity. Makes sense...
  21. Rizzo is only under contract for 2 more seasons at $29 million. Darvish is under contract for 4 more years and is owed $81 million. It seems like a lot of talent to give up to also take on $110 million dollars. I’d sooner take on that kind of money for 3 years of Price and Benintendi, which I believe would also cost less than your proposed combination of Madrigal, Cease, and Basabe/Collins. Darvish (33) is only a year younger than Price (34) and Rizzo is 30 while Benintendi is 25. Benintendi also can play the outfield while Rizzo is purely a 1B/DH where we have far too many types of these players.
