  1. If the Sox miss out on the few remaining starting pitchers that are actually good (Bumgarner, Keuchel, and Ryu), will you change your tune?
  2. That’s absolutely nightmarish. I thought Halloween was over? I guess it is Friday the 13th! ?
  3. This is no doubt true. I remember arguing about last year’s offseason with you. ?
  4. No one should be upset that the Sox didn’t sign Brett Anderson. But the scary thing is that I have so little faith in Hahn that I could see him doing worse. The guy added Nova, Santana, and Banuelos last offseason as his SP options. I don’t think it’s crazy to doubt Hahn this offseason.
  5. Why should signing Ryu and Walker/Wood even be a “big if”?!?
  6. Reinsdorf got greedy. He saw how much profit they made with a low payroll over the last few years and while I truly believe that he wants to win, he wants to win at his price and also cash in on a low payroll.
  7. The look of disappointment on Hahn’s face in that Photoshop is priceless.
  8. But the Sox were supposedly interested. Not very promising.
  9. Wow, when JUSTgottaBELIEVE is pessimistic on the offseason, you know it’s bad. He’s one of the most optimistic posters here!
  10. But isn’t it a bit ironic that the Sox basically gave up on similar talent recently in Avisail García, only to acquire the lefty version of him? If Avi wasn’t good enough for this team in the past, why is Mazara now?
  11. Neither am I, especially if his defense is bad. It will be interesting to see if the Rays can get some Schwarber-like production out of him on the cheap.
  12. The whole idea is pretty ridiculous. Sometimes Hahn should just keep his trap shut.
  13. I do believe that players choose the most money the majority of the time but at this guy’s price, teams could have tried to sign him as a DH or part time player. With the Rays, he knows he’s a full time starter.
  14. Yep, on everyone they potentially miss out on. ?
  15. Pretty cheap. At that price, they aren’t devastated if he is a bust.
  16. Cuz it’s easier to be maintain a low payroll and milk the profits. The cynic in me thinks that Jerry saw all the profits that the team made while touting the rebuild from maintaining a low payroll so he wants to milk it as long as he can. Note how Hahn talked a big game about being very active in free agency before this offseason and acquiring two starters because the team was ready to take a step forward but this week he completely backtracked and talked about not rushing the rebuild. WTF?!? Does Hahn think we have no memory of his past comments? Just because you fail to sign your #1 starting pitcher target (Wheeler) doesn’t mean you just stop then. Have a freaking backup plan and acquire someone else. The term “pivot” has been thrown around a lot this offseason but I don’t think Rick knows what it means... ”Well, we missed out on Machado, so let’s save that $250 million for next offseason.” “Well, we missed out on Wheeler, so let’s save that $125 million for next offseason.” This is a completely idiotic way to handle free agency. Sox ownership and front office management is a massive shit show and they think we are all stupid enough to fall for their garbage.
  17. Exactly. A crappy defensive right fielder who can’t OPS over .800 blows, and he hasn’t done that once in four seasons. 35 year old Brett freaking Gardner put up an .829 OPS last season.
  18. Ugh, that would ruin most of the point of doing it, lol.
  19. Eh, the guy has barely pitched in the past two seasons.
  20. Wood is probably the best cheap SP target available with the most upside. He really should be signed already.
  21. The Red Sawx just signed starter Martin Perez... https://mobile.twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/1205324208718274560
  22. Hahn has to have a move or two up his sleeve for SP, right? What would be the point of signing Grandal and going into the season with three healthy starters?
  23. Sox are the visitor at GRate for a December 30th game against the Tigers? Interesting.
  24. There is no excuse for Hahn not to come away with one second tier free agent starter and at least a cheaper lesser starter/swingman this offseason. None whatsoever. Hahn should be absolutely shredded at SoxFest if he hasn’t landed these two players by then.
