  1. Yes, I think that is where we are at now. The sad thing is that I even question them signing Keuchel at this point, which I still think would be a decent, not great, signing.
  2. It actually went up last year so if can definitely be worse.
  3. Porcello on a one year, $10 million dollar deal would have been fine as our second SP target. He would cover for the return of Kopech and Rodon and then be gone after the season to make room for them in the rotation in 2020.
  4. They can and they should. That’s what other teams are doing that are trying to win. It’s also what Hahn has been running his mouth about the past two offseasons — spending money with the big boys. Where have you been?
  5. I love this new LARRR. Reinsdorf better start paying attention to the fans. Years of awful team management and losing is finally starting to affect Bulls attendance. Sox fans aren’t going to put up with this crap for much longer.
  6. Why are the Sox only in play for 2nd level free agents? The Sox front office loves fans like you.
  7. Idiots? Hahn wrote the narrative himself and talked about the Machado money being spent. The Sox haven’t been spending for years of offseasons and losing. Enough fucking excuses. It’s time.
  8. Excuses. Are they really spending money this offseason? I have seen one great signing at catcher and one cheap acquisition for RF as all the other top free agents sign elsewhere.
  9. This is the key, regardless of anything else. We all know how well the Sox hang with the big boys in handing out $200+ million dollar contracts. If a couple or more of our players are legit stars, good luck retaining them from the big spenders stealing them away. They need to start winning now.
  10. Engel’s splits in 89 plate appearances last year versus lefties should not be counted on for anything. Over his career, his splits versus lefties are bad.
  11. I think it makes sense to not tank 2020 and add the two starters. You potentially have Kopech and Rodon back in the second half of the season. If you can sneak into a Wild Card or win a weak division, who knows?
  12. That could make sense. And I believe Rodon is under Sox control for 2021 as well so he has a bit more time to build his value prior to free agency.
  13. But Hahn was the one saying he wanted to acquire two starters this offseason, so that would indicate that he doesn’t want to push the window back another year due to injuries to our existing starting pitchers.
  14. But that won’t be the rotation to start the season with Kopech’s rehab.
  15. No, but I wasn’t sure what type of players you were referring to as being unattainable if your team isn’t a marquee franchise. Do you think Keuchel and a lesser SP options are realistic for the Sox to acquire this offseason?
  16. I don’t think any team needs to be a marquee franchise to add a Keuchel and a secondary lesser starting pitcher. These guys aren’t top free agents.
  17. Do you agree that they still need to acquire a second starter, outside of Keuchel, this offseason?
  18. But Hahn even discussed adding two starting starting pitchers which refutes this notion. And I don’t think the Sox are waiting on or depending on guys like Lambert, Hansen, or Burdi for anything.
  19. I know Encarnacion would be cheap (likely a one year deal) due to his age but DH should be the last area of focus. They need two starters and two relief pitchers.
  20. Acquiring Price/Keuchel plus signing a cheaper secondary SP like Porcello while not ideal, could quickly regain some faith. There are options. I just hope the Sox aren’t refusing to deal with Boras, otherwise, there are very limited options available.
  21. Maybe it is. Imagine only doing it twice in the past decade.
  22. Not exactly. Machado (26) was 3 years younger than Rendon (29) when he signed his deal. Machado got 10 years. Rendon got 7 years. Not too difficult to understand. Both will be around 36 years old when their contracts expire. Rendon would’ve received more money overall than Machado had he been 26 years old when he hit free agency like Machado. He probably gets $350 over 10 years, considering his AAV ended up being $35 million (7/$245). Age matters... a lot.
  23. Well, you get neither with this front office, so congrats?
  24. 3 years younger — Machado was 26 and Rendon is 29, and it’s reflected in their contracts. Machado received 10 years and Rendon received 7 years.
