  1. What has being a top 15 prospect done for Mazara so far in 4 years in the majors? He hasn’t hit 1 WAR in a single season. What are your predictions for Mazara’s offensive output within his next two seasons with the Sox?
  2. The Sox couldn’t lock up Machado or Wheeler. They aren’t signing Rendon, Betts, or Springer. Let’s be honest. Joc is likely attainable but I have no doubt the Sox will give Mazara two full seasons to reach his “true potential.”
  3. Why do we think the Mazara move says this at all? Mazara is under control for two years. Betts, Springer, and Pederson are free agents after next season. Betts is a pipe dream and Springer is likely as well. I think this move is more of a statement that the Sox really like Mazara and think he will pan out. I don’t think it in any way indicates that the Sox are waiting for a better target next offseason.
  4. “Could be...” ”We have some iffy ones with the always injured Rodon...” ”The inconsistent Lopez...” “Oft-injured Dunning...” Good god man, read the crap you are trying to sling.
  5. Man, the Sox front office must love fans like you. Happy with table scraps.
  6. I honestly think the bench/DH/26th man will be some combination of McCann, Collins, Leury, Engel, Mendick, and one more righty bat that they acquire this offseason. They aren’t making another big move for offense.
  7. You think the Sox only need one more SP and one more RP?
  8. I had no hope for Adolfo even making the majors but there are currently better outfielders available than Mazara right now.
  9. Probably every team in the MLB cares about WAR when making acquisitions. Just because you don’t care about stats doesn’t mean that MLB teams don’t. Also, you are using the benchmark of an embarrassing group of Sox players when the team was pretty much trying to lose for better draft picks as the baseline for improvement. Amazing.
  10. You know this isn’t the point I was trying to make. They acquired mediocrity because it was cheap, with an ever so slight chance of panning out. Sarava worded it better than me above: ”This is the same old White Sox way of doing business, which has led to this long ass playoff drought that we're in.”
  11. Souza had one breakout season in 2017 but the rest of his career is pretty meh. He’s a good bench bat but that’s about it. I doubt any team, even bad ones, will sign him to be a starter.
  12. We already know Mazara’s production — less than 1 WAR in each year of his career. The Sox are praying that Mazara somehow booms from his consistent mediocrity for 4 years straight. The Sox supposedly have money to spend and could have and should have done better than this. We shouldn’t have to hope for these flier-type players to pan out. Spend some freaking money.
  13. This move is so old school Kenny and the White Sox that it’s not even funny. We have no money to spend (or don’t want to spend any) so let’s outsmart the entire MLB, acquire an outfielder who is so far simply all unreached potential, and hope and pray that he pans out for us. The Sox window of contention is starting now and they were supposed to have plenty of money to spend (“The money will be spent.”). There are most definitely better outfielders available than Mazara that would have only cost money. Hahn should be making moves for sure-thing type players, not absolute fliers. This cheap move is a slap in the face to Sox fans who have waited throughout this rebuild for the Sox to nut up, play with the big boys, and finally spend the money they haven’t throughout the course of losing year after year during this rebuild.
  14. Anyone expecting another big signing on the offensive side is going to be sorely disappointed. Castellanos is not happening. At best, they will add a cheap right-handed hitting bench player to complement Mazara. Someone like Souza as fathom has already suggested. The offense is done outside of this.
  15. This one made me laugh. Bruce with the anti-scoop. Thanks. ?
  16. I’m not sure what’s funnier, this tweet or the replies to it.
  17. Teams that acquire guys like Mazara as their starting right fielder aren’t paying $200+ million for Rendon.
  18. It’s sad that Sox fans identify better trade targets than our front office and we wind up with guys like Mazara instead.
  19. This. And Hahn will act like he learned nothing from wasting money on Ivan Nova and Ervin Santana last year.
  20. I think it’s safe to say Hahn is on plans C and D at this point. I would be shocked if they show the money to Ryu or Keuchel, especially considering their agent.
  21. Can we go back in time and make Frank Castillo be right about signing Marcell Ozuna?
  22. We are probably priced out of the Ryu and Keuchel game at this point, which is pathetic.
