  1. He definitely must be thought of as a cancer around the MLB. For a guy who is pretty close to the player that Marcell Ozuna is, no one seems to be interested in him. Ozuna had a compensation draft pick attached to him and still got $18 million for one year. That said, I’d still sign him if he came very cheaply at around $8 to $10 million for one year.
  2. Because Hector Gómez is always right? ?
  3. I didn’t think the Rockies made any sense. Their outfield is full. Blackmon, Dahl, Desmond, Tapia
  4. Multiple outlets report that the reports of the Rockies being frontrunners for Yasiel Puig are incorrect. Nick Groke of The Athletic reports that a source tells him that there's "nothing to" the reports Friday morning from Hector Gomez of Z 101 that suggested that the Rockies were among the frontrunners to sign Puig. It's disappointing from a fantasy perspective -- think of what Puig's power could do playing in Coors Field -- but on paper, it's not exactly a perfect fit. Gomez also mentioned the White Sox, and they appear to be the best candidate at this point to sign the 29-year-old free agent.
  5. It will be tough to top his numbers last year, considering he won the batting title. He doesn’t walk so his OBP will likely be lower. I expect his AVG and OBP to be lower but I’ll take more homers and stolen bases.
  6. They are one in the same. If Puig’s decision is truly between the Sox and Rockies, it will probably be the Rockies. Fathom’s guess of the Mariners still makes the most sense with Haniger out after two offseason surgeries.
  7. Maybe he was beating the garbage can to give the other guy a break when he wasn’t busy working on players. Ya never know... ?
  8. It’s a bit strange to spend all the money they did and to go with a bench that currently includes Engel and Mendick. Maybe thinks will change by opening day.
  9. Renteria’s bunting strategy was still awful even with his worse lineups in prior years. It never really worked and he kept doing it. It was still poor managing. I would hope he realizes he shouldn’t be bunting with his current starting lineup but bunting is never really a great strategy overall.
  10. Eloy has a narrow upper body and shoulders, wide hips, and a belly. He is not exactly the ideal athletic outfielder. He is big, slow, and lumbering. How is that an insane take?
  11. Bruce didn’t know that keeping Kopech down in the minors to start the season could save some of his service time, when many posters here did. Meanwhile, Bruce covers Chicago baseball as his career. I would say your assessment is still correct.
  12. They have always wanted to win... but at the payroll Jerry is comfortable with.
  13. That other picture must have just been a bad angle. He looks like his usual size in the upper-right picture. He’s basically built like Jermaine Dye in his later years. He will likely always be tough to watch in LF but he will hit 40+ bombs. Hopefully, he can avoid the nagging injuries from here on out.
  14. You think that’s in good shape for a professional outfielder? I predict 40 bombs but a lot of errors. He’s a DH and his body matches that.
  15. I know it’s Bruce Levine but he was on The Score just now and said he doesn’t see Puig happening. He said, “the Sox are pretty much maxed-out money-wise.” This could explain why they haven’t signed any cheap bench options.
  16. Jake Burger finally has some competition. Wow. Hopefully, he gets in shape quickly this spring. He isn’t dispelling any notions that he’s a DH playing LF. On the other hand, Abreu actually looks trimmed down quite a bit.
  17. Haha, agreed. But I’m sure he is right.
  18. I’m not saying the Sox make the most sense for Puig since he would mostly be in a platoon with Mazara as long as everyone is healthy but do the Rockies make much more sense with their current outfield situation? Charlie Blackmon David Dahl Ian Desmond Raimel Tapia
  19. One year contract with a one year team option for Brock Holt but not money mentioned yet.
  20. Man, you sure love responding to fake insiders.
  21. More evidence that SoxTalk posters know more than Bruce Levine... On The Score this morning, Mike Mulligan asked Bruce Levine if the Sox could hold Kopech back in the minors until May 29th to regain some of his service time. I assume Mulligan heard this from a Sox fan caller or texter. Levine responded that they already started his clock so he had no clue on how that would work but he then said he would try to get an answer. He literally had no clue.
  22. Why are people acting like Mazara was some big long-term acquisition? He’s a mediocre RF that cost a mediocre OF prospect. He’s potentially here for 2 years, but perhaps only 1. Puig could only be looking at a 1 year contract as well, would only cost money, and could outperform Mazara both offensively and defensively. Mazara isn’t really the type of player that should stop a front office from trying to improve. The Rangers dumped him to go with Willie Calhoun.
  23. I know Puig has reverse splits but he would be a platoon RF with the Sox at the very least. He is much better against lefties than Mazara. And yes, he could potentially be a full-time OF with an injury to the OF. Would Puig sign with the Sox considering the potentially limited playing time? I don’t think so but I still think he makes sense for the roster as constructed.
