  1. If the Sox spend their remaining money on a big acquisition like Puig, I’m fine with going with Leury and Mendick in the infield. Puig is probably the last impact bat available.
  2. Heard from an insider source or a media source? Thanks!
  3. Yes, he would have been a lot nicer than Engel as a starting OF if we suffer an injury. But I agree with your post. The Sox spent a ton of money this offseason so it’s a bit strange to see them cheap out on the bench for a few more million dollars on one year deals, isn’t it?
  4. Where did you hear this? Linky por favor?!?
  5. Nope, that was the infamous Frank Castillo. Manny Mota is a former Dodgers hitting coach and is very close with Puig.
  6. I’m a little surprised. There were some guys like Cameron Maybin ($1.5 mill) and Brad Miller ($2 mill) that could have been signed for next to nothing. It will also be interesting to see what the Brewers signed Brock Holt for. And there are still guys out there who could improve the Sox bench (Puig, Gennett, Dozier).
  7. Franchy Cordero Wil Myers Josh Naylor Tommy Pham Mitch Haniger (hernia and microdiscectomy surgeries) Kyle Lewis Mallex Smith The Padres outfield is pretty full but fathom probably nailed it with the Mariners. Haniger has had two surgeries this offseason and is expected to miss all of Spring Training and the beginning of the season.
  8. Agreed. I’d still settle for Dozier for some 2B depth but obviously he only plays one position.
  9. $9 million for Alonso and $4 million for Jay. ? I agree with both of you about Puig but I think Steve Stone will end up being right and he will sign elsewhere. If it was up to me, I’d sign Puig and either Gennett or Dozier. Great lineup and amazing bench. Posters who are happy with Leury/Mendick/Engel right now will be wishing we added some bench depth once we have an injury to the infield or outfield.
  10. Scott Merkin was asked by Hub Arkush tonight of the White Sox player’s opinions in camp about the Astros and Merkin said the players haven’t spoken at all about them. Merkin never mentioned why they haven’t discussed the Astros and Arkush was too clueless to challenge him on it. Hmmm, maybe because Keuchel is now their teammate? It was an embarrassing discussion to say the least.
  11. Gennett and Dozier are still available but it seems like the Sox want to roll with Leury and Mendick. Gennett is likely going to be an absolute steal for some team.
  12. Will be interesting to see the contract numbers.

  14. I think it’s funny how people are appalled by the idea of signing Puig but are okay with Engel getting at bats in RF against lefties. Sign Puig for next to nothing, provide starting OF coverage for your corner outfielders, one of which gets injured a lot, and let him platoon with Mazara in the meantime. If he acts like a dick, cut his ass.
  15. Bruuuce Levine was just on The Score and said that Mazara was 26 years old so his best years could be ahead of him. How does this guy keep his job?
  16. Pillar just got $4 million from the Red Sox. He can play CF but it makes me think Puig should be able to nab a contract worth $5 to $10 million from some team.
  17. Probably the large percentage he takes but it’s probably still worth it for star players.
  18. Yep, I was very confused by all of the optimistic thinking based on this change of agents.
  19. Hopefully before there are any more hints at Steve Stone being racist without any evidence.
  20. White boomers? There are also poor white kids that can’t afford to play baseball.
  21. What did he say that was so wrong?
  22. So now its a 3-team deal with the Sox, Rockies, and A's involved? What a clown.
  23. Indeed. $1.5 million for Maybin and $2 million for Miller. I'd rather have both of them over Engel and Mendick.
