Great walk by Moan. Would have been a K looking last year. -
They are all pro ball players, they are all Cubans, and they speak the same language. I have no doubt Abreu, Moncada, and Robert would welcome Puig with open arms. But I'm sure Abreu could and would keep Puig under raps if he gets out of line. I don't necessarily think Puig is the best option but he's definitely not the worst and I wouldn't be upset with him as our big RF signing. But I am loving Balta's idea of signing/acquiring a one year stop-gap (i.e. Corey Dickerson) and then signing Betts next offseason to a massive deal.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
Moan4Yoan replied to Sockin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I just look at it this way. He's still productive offensively. He is terrible on defense. We may be able to sign him to a team friendly deal because obviously he doesn't want to leave Chicago which he has appeared to make his home and Reinsdorf and the Sox want him around until he is done as a player and likely afterwards as a Sox ambassador. Abreu likely knows he can have a career with the Sox like Frank Thomas after he is done as a ball player, which is why he wants to stick around. He isn't stupid. Abreu knows he can make some money after his playing career is over with some Buona Beef or Nugenix commercials. If Abreu trusts Reinsdorf so much and he wants to be a lifetime White Sox, he can sign with the Sox to a team friendly deal for 2 years and then go to 1 year deals after that if he can still hit. But he damn well better move to DH full-time once Andrew Vaughn is MLB ready and our manager (hopefully not still Ricky) had better start batting him lower in the lineup than cleanup if he isn't the same hitter he was and/or other players are more productive offensively. -
I don't think much of Getz but it's nice knowing he appears to be all aboard the analytics train. Analytics are huge these days. My company has an analytics specialist in each department. My specific department has an entire DA team.

This is a tough one. He’s a ridiculous hitter but he’s also going to be expensive and he’s 32 and primarily a DH. We need a good RF more than a DH.
-
The Texans front office didn’t do him any favors. You need to coordinate drafting your franchise QB with having at least an average OL.
-
Hahn could redeem himself on last year’s whiffs if he acquires a one year stop-gap for RF this offseason and then signs Betts in the 2021 offseason. That would be amazing.
-
I’d rather sign Avisail and I’m serious.
-
Why would the Sox, a rebuilding team, want to sign a 31 year old Japanese player? He is already old enough to be past his prime years and he will be facing major league pitching for the first time in his life. Hard pass. If you want a 31 year old lefty outfielder as a stop-gap, Corey Dickerson would be a better option. He has already proven he can hit MLB pitching with a career .830 OPS.
-
Cubs are going all out with Baez injured. They are calling up top prospect Nico Hoerner to play SS.
-
Boston is amazing. Expectations are high. The team is run the exact opposite of the White Sox.
-
But random Japanese hitters are a better option? If you don’t like Dickerson or Calhoun, you likely aren’t going to like the bust rate of these Japanese players. I would be interested in Dickerson but he seems pretty injury-prone. And I wouldn’t touch Calhoun at all. A low average hitting 32 year old. He would be ripe for a massive decline going to the Sox.

How did he look defensively at SS? -
It will be interesting to see what kind of money and years Abreu gets. It seems he doesn’t want to play anywhere else and the Sox want him to stick around until retirement. I would think it might be a decent hometown discount.

Money. You beat me to it. Yep, the Sox don’t spend money on managers. We all know that Omar Vizquel is the Sox next manager, for better or worse. -

I seem to remember him only being good in LF cuz he had a great arm. -
Haha, the Gronk intro was hilarious as well.

He’s bad and won’t be worth the $5 or $6 million he will cost. The Gatorade act isn’t worth that much money. Mendick can replace him for a very low cost and I’m sure he can dump a jug of Gatorade on his head just as well. -

Are you guys assuming that Robert will bat leadoff? Wouldn’t it make more sense for Madrigal to bat leadoff with Robert batting second? Someone on base for Robert to drive in via the long ball? I’m assuming when the Sox have these two guys in the lineup that they won’t be doing stupid things like bunting and playing for one run. -

That’s just fine and dandy but Heyward’s bat has actually improved this year. Steve Stone must be fine with a .644 OPS at 2B. I’m not. -

Bringing back Abreu is fine but he should give up 1B as soon as Vaughn is ready and finish his career as a DH.
