  1. Other than Steele Walker who needs to show more power, that’s a whole lot of suck. Two outfielders who can’t stay healthy and two outfielders who can’t hit.
  2. For his own career, sure, but his Sox career is ending with this season.
  3. This would make zero sense. The Sox will need to fill both CF and 2B until both Robert and Madrigal are called up a couple weeks into the season. Leury has more value than Yolmer and will also be much cheaper. The Sox will have Leury and Mendick as bench players. I am confident that Yolmer will be gone.
  4. He would be a nice target but I wonder if the Rockies would be willing to move a 25 year old OF who has shown the ability to hit.
  5. Okay, then I’m gramps and you are the young whippersnapper. ? Any other trade targets for RF? Someone mentioned Gregory Polanco of the Pirates a few times in the past but he has mostly been injured with a poor performance at the plate this season.
  6. We were discussing where Castellanos could be headed, if not the White Sox. Take your chill pill, gramps.
  7. Also, I realize they added Kimbrel ($16M) but Hamels ($20M), Zobrist ($12M), Morrow ($9M), Strop ($6.25M), and Kintzler ($5M) are all coming off their books after this season. They added $16 million in Kimbrel but are about to drop over $52 million in expiring contracts.
  8. Agreed with everything you said here.
  9. There is no context where Gordon would be a good acquisition. He can’t hit, and hasn’t for the past 4 seasons. If the Sox can’t easily do better than Gordon for RF (i.e. Corey Dickerson) there is no hope at all.
  10. Their pay-to-watch Cubs network starts in 2020. They will have money.
  11. I’m starting to think this isn’t Ricky’s choice and it the front office’s directive. It seems like the Sox have Collins earmarked for the primary DH next year, while getting spot starts here and there at catcher and 1B.
  12. This is also what I think. I see the Cubs resigning him. Rizzo will eventually be the odd man out.
  13. I don’t think I agree with you on that “at most” contract offer anymore. I think some team will be willing to go higher than 4/$60 for him. So you don’t want Castellanos because he’s a DH but you suggested the Sox acquiring Alex Gordon who can’t do anything well these days? ?
  14. The Goff signing has me afraid the Bears will feel pressured to follow suit and guarantee Trubisky way too much money. https://mobile.twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1169056965689040896
  15. That’s like putting spin on a shot in Golden Tee, lol.
  16. Should it happen? “Most definitely”, to quote The Big Hurt. Will it happen or do I expect it to happen? Nope. I can’t even fathom someone trying to defend Ricky keeping his job as manager beyond this season. I would think after watching the countless awful managing decisions he has made, this would be universally agreed upon by now.
  17. The Astros started the 2019 season with the 8th highest payroll in baseball. The fact is that all teams will consider manipulating service time if it fits their best interests. The Cubs intentionally manipulated Bryant’s service time because they knew how good he would be and unfortunately who his agent was from the start of the draft but they simply couldn’t pass on his talent regardless of the future struggle to sign him long-term.
  18. Eh, with Boras as his agent from the beginning and going year to year with one year arbitration deals, he likely had this path chosen from the beginning regardless of the Cubs manipulating his service time. He was likely always hitting the free agent market regardless. It’s what Boras clients usually do. But I agree with your premise that he is in the driver’s seat now.
  19. Here are a couple more articles with more details on the story and the trial ruling: http://www.cwbchicago.com/2019/08/lakeview-homicide-trial-ends-with.html?m=1 http://www.beverlyreview.net/opinion/our_opinion/article_3583e232-ce69-11e9-b899-9b171def3d2c.html Apparently, many of the other charges that would have increased Pitts’ jail time were dropped because prosecutors went all-in on the murder charge. Also, because the victim O’Malley fought back and Pitts shot him twice in the chest it was involuntary? Amazing job by that jury...
  20. I guess that answers my question. Wow, I would be interested to hear the details on this one.
  21. He looks like a fine upstanding gentleman in his mugshot and likely not prone to be a repeat criminal with that evil smirk on his face... Back to reality, how does a guy get away with involuntary manslaughter after shooting a guy twice in the chest during a robbery? Did the gun “accidentally” discharge twice into the victim’s chest during a struggle? If that isn’t the case, Mr. Pitts should be waiting to be strapped to a gurney to receive his final shots or at least be serving the rest of his days in a small, dark cell. Do you know any of the details as to how he got off with involuntary manslaughter?
  22. Wrongful death lawsuit and if there is anything behind a team representative giving Skaggs the drugs as painkillers as you hypothesize, the Angels would likely be quick to settle with the family.
  23. I will go out on a solid redwood tree branch and say that Castellanos will not be a White Sox.
  24. Did someone seriously suggest acquiring 36 year old Alex Gordon to play RF for our team next year? He is old as balls and currently sporting his highest OPS in his last four seasons at a pathetic .733. He OPS’ed under .700 the previous 3 years from 2016 to 2018. He is about the worst suggestion for a corner OF acquisition that I have seen anywhere. The guy has been done as a quality baseball player for years. The Royals have only kept him around for nostalgia purposes because he is a career-long Royal. My god, apparently some people like veteran dumpster diving as much as Kenny and Hahn do.
