  1. Agreed. Question is, do you still go after Grandal? They seem to want to use Collins in the weird utility role of DH / C / 1B.
  2. That was a sweet HR, no doubt. But honestly, he has regressed. Look at his numbers. .274 AVG / .789 OPS
  3. RF is one position I can actually see the Sox spending money on in the offseason. The Sox seem to favor spending more money on position players over starting pitchers due to injury concerns. While Ozuna or Castellanos would be nice, I see us ending up with Puig, Dickerson, or a trade target. But I can’t imagine Hahn not acquiring a corner outfielder and keeping Leury as a starter.
  4. Wow, Abreu just looked like a rookie.
  5. About his only good attribute. He plays by his gut over analytics and we benefit with top draft picks.
  6. Pretty nice tank loss, if you are still rooting for a good draft pick.
  7. Cease even knows Marshall is a bum, lol. Shaking his head in the dugout.
  8. Are the Sox still keeping Robert and Madrigal down because of Charlotte being in the playoffs? ?
  9. The idea of trading Cease is ridiculous. What starter are the Sox going to get to replace him with ace type stuff? You are dreaming if you think the Sox are dishing out a $200+ million dollar contract for Cole or someone like him. The Sox don’t spend big money on starting pitching because of the high frequency of injuries. Danks and his 4-year, $65 million dollar contract was the largest one they have given out to a starting pitcher and he probably just bolstered their opinion on signing starters to big money deals.
  10. Palka is done. I doubt we see him next year. He will sign a minor league deal with some other team in the offseason.
  11. Move him to catcher and maybe his defense will improve.
  12. 12 years of losing, which makes it amusing that posters still defend this front office. They have failed at trying to compete for years and the jury is still out at long-term rebuilding.
  13. He’s following the other old school managing technique of trying to create a lineup of alternating lefty and righty hitters. This is okay as long as those hitters can actually, you know, hit. Renteria still does it regardless of talent.
  14. So you don’t think there are any teenagers, young adults, and adults who are just lazy and don’t want to work? Your beliefs are fantasy, as is the world you are describing.
  15. That’s not true at all. There’s also ambition. Not all people have the same drive to better themselves.
  16. It’s not slavery, it’s simply supply and demand. In general, an uneducated, lower skilled person isn’t going to be qualified to perform more advanced job functions. Many people can dig ditches without having any extra education or skills. Hence, this job doesn’t pay as well as an IT Manager position, for example.
  17. You might need to move to another country if you are looking to “capitalize” on your ideas.
  18. Because I doubt the majority of posters here are socialists / communists. ?
  19. That isn’t the way the world works, unless you want to live in the Soviet-era communist Russia. People get paid for the level of skill required for their job. A ditch digger likely isn’t getting paid enough money to live what you would consider “a modest, independent lifestyle.”
  20. But that’s where you probably aren’t being realistic. A job that is “starting at the bottom” and is “boring shit” likely isn’t going to pay well enough to live independently on. When I started at $32K a year out of college, I was still living with my parents. I couldn’t afford shit.
  21. Agreed. I’m in IT and my first job was for $32K ages ago doing tech support. And I thought that was pretty sweet back then, haha. You have to work hard and constantly improve yourself. Get training, certifications, etc. and even change jobs as well to get to where you want to be.
