  1. A ton is riding on the shoulders of Cease and Kopech. JR will never pony up for an elite starting pitcher so we need Cease/Kopech to be our version of Degrom/Thor if we want to succeed. No pressure there lol.
  2. We got our asses destroyed by the Twins. Every die hard Sox fan hates the Twins. Please let us know when it is appropriate to b****.
  3. Rebuilds aren't linear just like prospect development. The Sox rebuild might have to take a few steps (years) back before it can go forward. The only way the Sox can compete next year is if Jerry spends like a drunken sailor. Even signing Cole, Rendon, Ozuna, and Grandal might not be enough as the bullpen will still be bad and the rotation will be relying on a bunch of young kids with fragile arms.
  4. My concern is that the young blood is not as good as advertised. Cease should be up by the all star break. Maybe Collins too. Neither of those guys are gonna push the needle much though. The losing isn't stopping on the South Side anytime soon and that is okay. Top 5 picks are more important than wins and losses right now.
  5. The Twins just made this Sox team look a AAA squad. This series should put to rest any thoughts that the Sox have any chance to compete this year or next. It is time to embrace the tank. Remember that Houston punted away 5 consecutive seasons. Minnesota has been in a rebuild since 2011. This is only year 3 of the Sox rebuild. The Sox need to continue to stock the farm with top 5 picks. It's time to take our losses on the chin over the next few years and hopefully we can get after it in 2022 or so.
  6. Looks like Eloy is gonna require at least 1000 at bats in the pros before he becomes the elite bat that everyone said he would be.
  7. Does Eloy finish 2019 as a negative WAR player?
  8. This series should put to bed any more delusional thoughts of the Sox competing this year or next. Moncada is the only guy on the Sox who would start for Minnesota. It is time to hunker down and embrace the tank for a few more years.
  9. The Twins have a very good young core and a good farm system with two guys ranked in the top 15. It's a good time to be a Twins fan. Their major league team is kicking ass and their farm is stacked as well.
  10. I think you are going to get your wish. The Sox ain't trading Abreu. They didn't trade him when they unloaded everyone else in the firesale a few years back. He has been a loyal soldier and JR will reward him for that. I'm thinking he gets a 3 year extension announced after the mlb draft. It's called a rebuild and rebuild don't happen overnight especially when you have an owner who is cheap. Houston had 5 terrible seasons in a row, Minnesota started their rebuild in 2011. We are still a good 2-3 years away from seeing a competitive team on the South Side. Just embrace the tank. It doesn't appear to be ending anytime soon.
  11. Totally agree. The Sox took the safe college bat last year ( and previous two years) in Madrigal and the returns haven't been too hot. I'm sure that is factoring into the equation. I also wonder if there is some division and drama going on in the Sox braintrust right now. Based on Hostetler's past draft history, Vaughn seems like a no-brainer to the White Sox. However, we keep seeing the Sox, and more specifically KW, linked to Abrams.
  12. The Sox executed your plan by signing guys like Melky, LaRoche, Robertson, and trading for guys like Shark, Frazier, and Shields. Again, no more buying cars from Carmax when you can afford a brand new Audi or Range Rover.
  13. So every single one of our prospects is going to work out? Also, Rodon, Fulmer, Jones, and Herrera have no future with this club and no trade value.
  14. Let's get Collins up here and see what he can do. Let him get another 50 or so at bats in AAA to clear his cobwebs and then bring him up. Hahn and Hostetler can't hid him in the minors forever.
  15. easy answer. Combination of bad players and terrible/nonexistent coaching.
  16. Isn't tanking lovely? This is what happens when half your roster is AAAA filler.
  17. Next year is only year 4 of the Sox rebuild. Houston punted away 5 straight seasons in their rebuild. Minnesota has been rebuilding since 2011. 2020 is likely another tank/developmental year and that is okay.
  18. A perpetual rebuild is not my plan. I've already seen the plan that you are suggesting and the ending sucked. The Sox should not try to accelerate this rebuild by signing a bunch of Yasiel Puig and Michael Wacha type guys. All the injuries have turned this into a slow burn rebuild and the Sox need to let the meat marinate a bit. Pretty much all of the future "core" should be in Chicago by the all star break next year. They should have a better idea on what holes to fill after 2020. The exception is pitching. The time to start stockpiling pitching is always.
  19. Yep. Also Zavala turns 26 in a couple months. Time to see what he can offer.
  20. What makes you believe the Sox will spend big? The Sox have already tried playing the add Tier B and C free agents to a good young core game and lost. It is insane to try that route again with Rick Hahn in charge. Either pony up for elite talent like Cole, Rendon, and JD Martinez or don't play the FA game at all.
  21. The Sox are going to have to add a lot more than just a starting pitcher if they plan to compete next year. Half of the current roster needs to be replaced. Very difficult to do that in one offseason. 2020 is very likely to be another tank/developmental year.
  22. Way too early to give up on this kid. This year and next are still tank years. Let him make another 50 or so starts and evaluate then.
  23. Half of these guys are going to most likely fail and contribute nothing to the rebuild. Also, Robert and Cease might need two or three years of development at the mlb level before they become superstars. The Sox cannot rely solely on the farm. JR is going to have to open the wallet up big time if they want to compete by 2021. 2022 or 2023 is more realistic if we are only relying on internal guys.
  24. Maybe they fire Hostetler and bring in someone who actually knows what he is doing in the draft room?
