The James Shields trade proved anything is possible. Maybe the royals get a winning lotto tix for Duffy.
-
Houston also lost 100 plus games 3 years in a row. As we are seeing lately, the Sox look well on their way to their second straight 100 loss season.
-
Anyone know the record on most consecutive losses to start the second half in Sox history?
-
Yep. They are probably going to deal Duffy and Gordon as well. The Sox are a lot closer to KC's level than the Twinkies that is for sure.
-
One could make an argument that Kansas City is actually already further along in their rebuild than the Sox are.

The last 15 hours of speculation haven't been fun but sounds like good news!

Goins Called Up; Minaya Clears Waivers, Outrighted to AAA

Just took a look. Spencer Adams was #10! Jacob May and Michael Ynoa made the cut. Pretty sure both of those guys are already out of professional baseball and it looks like Adams will be joining them soon. I really hope JR is willing to throw down 300 to 400 million dollars in FA contracts over the next few offseasons. Relying solely on prospects is a recipe for disaster. -
Sox do nothing at the trade deadline. Hahn is out of the country on Holiday with his family during the last week of July.
-
I would just let Abreu walk. He is going to be way past his prime by the time the Sox are competing for anything and Vaughn is waiting in the wings. Let Collins, Reed, or Sheets play first base next year.

Yep. How exciting! Where is all the minor league depth in the Sox supposed top 5 farm system? -
I'm coming around to the take whatever you can get train of thought. The Sox are a total mess right now with one of the worse run differentials in baseball. Competing in 2020 does not seem realistic. Continue the tank and continue to stockpile prospects. Sell Sell Sell!
-
I'm saying to not do the surgery at all. Let him rest and try to recover on his own. I'm not concerned about his long term prospects in right field. I'm concerned he has the surgery and never quite recovers ala Micker Adolfo. Let's just hope it something fairly minor anyway and that this is all moot.
-
I think they can still plummet into the top 5. They play a 3 game series against the Mets and Marlins very soon. Time to tank away against those guys!
-
If it's Robert then it is probably pretty safe to say that Jimenez is done for the year. Bringing up Robert only to send him back down this year ala Zach Collins would be a total White Sox move though.
-
If he needs Tommy John, can the Sox just elect not to do it? I'm afraid that Tommy John will derail Eloy like it did with Micker Adolfo.
-
You ask for a kings ransom for Bummer since he is under control for so long. You take whatever you can get for Colome, Jay, Castillo, Sanchez, since none of those guys have any long term future with the Sox.
-
Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him

Says who? Some teenager tweeting from his high school Civics class? -
This is exactly what is happening though. The guy makes Kyle Schwarber look like Alex Gordon. This is already the second major injury scare due to him playing the field. Fool me once, fool me twice... It's his job to mash baseballs and be an absolute monster at the plate. That's it.
-
Well Charlie Tilson is your starting center fielder so there is your problem.
-
The Minnesota and Houston rebuilds both took approximately 6 years so it's not far fetched to think the Sox's will be similar.
-
Don't say those words around these parts man. This is now the second major injury scare for Eloy due to his clown act in the outfield. Fool me once, fool me twice, Sox better not get fooled again!
-
This is only year 3 of a 5-6 year rebuild. The Sox have plenty of time to find a left fielder.
-
It's not unacceptable. The guy is a complete clown in the outfield and is a totally liability. The Sox need to stop trying to make him something that he isn't.
-
He was injury prone in the minors and that has continued into the bigs. He is a future DH. The sooner the Sox realize that, the better.

Ouch. The gulf between teams like the Sox and Astros/Dodgers/Yankees/ is the size of the Grand Canyon.
