  1. I would be annoyed as hell as it would indicate to me that KW still has the final say on all top draft picks. Witt has been playing short over Abrams at all the major tournaments. Also, last year's draft was probably the time to select a high school player with huge upside over punch and judy Madrigal. Jared Kelenic was playing just up 1-94 from Chicago. He was an athletic outfielder. Jordan Groshans and Nolan Gorman were there for the taking as well.
  2. But he has Machado on speed dial. That was probably the only reason the Sox signed him.
  3. Yep.Get him up and get some big league starts out of him before he blows his arm out again.
  4. LMAO. If only it was this easy.
  5. This is revisionist history. A lot of people were pumped on Ian Clarkin as well as Rutherford. Clarkin was a former first round pick (One pick after Aaron Judge) and only 22 at the time of the trade. Hahn got pantsed by Cashman.
  6. I'm not opposed to the Sox drafting a high school kid. I'm extremely fearful of drafting any high school kid that KW has fallen in love with. We've already seen that movie and the ending sucked. Fool me once, fool me twice, fool me thrice, wont get fooled again.
  7. Please name the last high school player that Kenny Williams scouted and the Sox developed into an above average player.
  8. I agree. The Sox are guaranteed to get one of Rutschman, Vaughn, or Witt. DO NOT GET CUTE AND SCREW IT UP GUYS.
  9. It's inexplicable. KW set this franchise back a decade with his horrible drafting and it appears that he still has a huge say in who they pick each year. It's also kind of strange that all the writers are going out of their way to link Abrams to the Sox via KW.
  10. Don't forget about Cease and Madrigal as well. It is clear as the water in Cancun that JR is going to have to open up the wallet in order for this rebuild to succeed. Expecting all the young kids to hit their ceiling is downright delusional.
  11. Yoan Moncada was not brought on board to merely be just slightly above average or "good". As the former #1 prospect in all of baseball and the centerpiece of the Chris Sale trade he was acquired with the idea that he would blossom into a superstar. The Sox need Moncada to turn into an elite talent like Baez, Bregman, or Boegarts. The Sox will not be competing for any World Series without a few elite position players.
  12. Let's hope the Sox get one of Ruschtman, Witt, or Vaughn.
  13. Please keep Kenny Williams away from the draft room. The tanking will never end if KW still has the final call on draft picks.
  14. Did the Sox suddenly get a new owner? Cole ain't happening. Dude is going to want guaranteed $ not some incentive laden nonsense the Sox will offer him. We will get Wacha or Alex Wood.
  15. The Sox can just DFA Alonso at anytime without penalty right? He has no future trade value so letting him get at bats to build value is a gigantic waste of time. Time to cut bait and let Palka or Skole DH.
  16. Do these kids have to be at least 16 to sign a professional contract with a MLB team? Could someone offer the future Vlad Guerrero the Third a few million to sign when he is 10?
  17. Thanks for posting. Law seems to think that Collins and Sheets have no future. I get that with Sheets as he has proven to be a powerless first baseman but what about Collins? I though most people were convinced that Collins bat would play at the next level? Seems like KW is all about Abrams. Who makes the final call if he want Abrams and Hahn/Hostetler want Vaughn?
  18. Signed through 2023. I don't think the Sox have the chips to get him. Nats would probably want Kopech, Cease, or Madrigal as the centerpiece of any deal.
  19. Jesus, some of these guys look like they are 12. No facial hair in the entire group. Probably ride their beat up BMX bike to practice lol.
  20. What would it take to get Patrick Corbin or Stephen Strasburg?
  21. Dude has defintely been a workhorse when healthy. All those extra playoffs innings make me a bit weary, however. Kind of get the feeling that his best days are far in the rearview mirror. JR isn't gonna give a pitcher a 100 million dollar plus contract anyway so all this talk of signing him is just academic.
  22. I''d imagine that Bumgardner will get something similar to what Lester got from the Cubs. 6 years at 150 million or something like that. There is no way in hell that JR ponys up that kind of cash for a pitcher approaching 30 though.
  23. What in the world is going on at Birmingham? Luis Robert is the only guy there on the position player side who looks like he has any shot at an MLB future.
