  1. Still probably too early to tell but teams like the DBacks, Giants, and Indians immediately jump to mind. Grienke is under control through the 2021 season but has an AAV of over 30 million. I'm sure the Giants want to dump Cueto as well but his arm might be toast. Indians will probably trade Kluber but the Tribe will demand a kings ransom for him. The best avenue is just to buy pitching on the FA market. The Sox's farm has very little depth after Robert, Kopech, Cease, Collins, and Madrigal. It will be interesting to see if the Sox even attempt to make a run at a guy like Cole this offseason. I suspect they will looking more at guys like Wacha and Alex Wood.
  2. Why would the Nats trade Eaton for garbage like Carson Fulmer or Blake Rutherford when they are in go it for mode? Juan Soto is only 20 years old and has already put up 3 WAR. Honestly, he is probably untouchable. Rizzo would have to find a new job if all he got back was Robert and Kopech for Soto.
  3. The Nats aren't tearing anything down. They just gave Corbin a big contract and still have Strasburg and Schezer under control for a couple more years. They are in go for it mode. Still a ton of baseball left to play this year. If they are tearing it down, then let's go get Juan Soto or Victor Robles. Send em Robert, Kopech, and Hansen for Soto.
  4. LMAO. I bought produce and meat from Aldi once. I'm lucky to still be alive.
  5. I disagree. I think Lodolo, Z Thompson, Priester, and Espino all end up as solid front end starters.
  6. The fact that Vaughn has pretty similar college numbers to the Big Hurt is damn impressive. Seems pretty much certain that his bat will play at the next level. Rutschman falling to the Sox would obviously be awesome. Highly unlikely to happen though.
  7. How do Vaughn's numbers at Cal compare to the Big Hurt's at Auburn?
  8. Sweet swing Yoan! Sox gonna need to put up at least 7 or 8 tonight with trash can Nova on the mound.
  9. Aren't people comping Vaughn to Donaldson and Goldschmidt?
  10. Do not pull a Dane Dunning here. Just get the fucking surgery done.
  11. Yep. So much is riding on all the young kids when you have an owner who does not believe in giving out 100 million dollar plus contracts. The Sox will continue to shop at Aldi even though they can afford Whole Foods.
  12. But it was the only way! Remember that as the 10 run blowouts continue to happen, the 100 loss seasons stack up on each other, and the contention window gets pushed back another year. Repeat after me, it was the only way!
  13. Isn't tanking lovely? More than half of the roster is absolute garbage. So much is riding on the shoulders of Robert, Jimenez, Madrigal, Cease, and Kopech.
  14. God help us all if KW is still having significant say in the draft room. Kenny being in love with a guy has been the kiss of death more often than not. Also, I have no confidence that the Sox can develop a high school kid like Abrams.
  15. Hate? That is a strong word. Please do not put words into my mouth or try to insinuate something that isn't there. I think KW is a piss poor evaluator of amateur talent and I'm gonna to be extremely skeptical of anyone that he is "in love" with. Kudos to you if you think differently about Mr. William's scouting acumen. Also, I find it interesting that Law goes out of his way to say specifically that Kenny Williams is in love with Abrams. Law could have said the Sox FO, Rick Hahn, or Nick Hostetler but instead specifically mentioned KW.
  16. KW being in love with Abrams was as predictable as an ending in the show Full House. Is no one else concerned that KW is still sniffing around the draft room? The dude set this franchise back a decade with his terrible drafting. Also, Jared Mitchell was a busted pick and it is okay to call him that. Should have, could have, would have been mean diddly squat in the realm of professional sports.
  17. Kid can fly but the hit tool will need big time development. I'm not sure how Witt or Abrams fit the Sox current timeline as both will likely need at least 3-4 years of minor league seasoning. For better or worse, the Sox seem destined to take the best college bat available once again.
  18. Can we credit the Engel demotion to Soxtalk? It cant be a coincidence that he was sent down the same day that the Engel vs Tilson thread appeared. Maybe Hahn's kid was on here and relayed some valuable insights to his old man lol.
  19. Every single "core" player will be under control in 2022 and 2023. These will be the years the Sox need to make serious noise. People have been spoiled by the Cubs and Astros long competitive windows. The Sox rebuild will likely mirror Kansas City's at this juncture.
  20. Don't worry man Zach Burdi, Tyler Johnson, Ian Hamilton, Matt Foster, and Alec Hansen are on the way. I've been told by other posters that these guys are some of the most elite relief pitching prospects in baseball.
  21. Dude, rebuilds aren't linear. This one is just likely stuck in neutral for a couple years. The Sox should be competitive come 2022 or so.
  22. Either Jeff Passan or Jeff Sullivan wrote a pretty good article about tanking in baseball a couple of months back. Basically compared it to a ponzi scheme of sorts. With a third of the league actively tanking there will not be a chair for everyone once the music stops. Some teams are gonna be looking at multiple decades of nothing but losing baseball with nothing to show for it but huge owner profits. The White Sox are well on their way.
  23. is 84 pitches all this kid can handle? Why are people banging down the door for him to be promoted? He doesn't seem ready yet.
