  1. Uncle Jerry's true colors were on full display this offseason. I fully believe he entered the Machado negotations only to sabotage them. The dog and pony show with Harper is evidence as well. The Sox interest in Harper sure dried up fast. The Sox are not Tampa Bay. Trying to do this rebuild with only internal players isn't going to work. The old man is going to have to open the wallet and finally hand out a few 100 million dollar plus contracts or this rebuild is doomed.
  2. Jay and Engel are both a waste of time. Neither one of them better be on the team in 2020.
  3. Dude has had his chance and then some. We will know that the rebuild is heading in a positive direction once this guy is no longer on the MLB roster.
  4. Bingo. Reinsdorf and company have been making $ every year otherwise he wouldn't be in the game. At this point, the only thing Reinsdorf seems concerned about is setting up his family for future generations. His great great Grandchildren will never have to work a day in their life.
  5. Exactly. Kid is excelling in this role albeit as a 24 year old in high A. I say continue to work him out of the pen in preparation to be a shut down 8th or 9th inning guy.
  6. Doesn't one of Witt's uncles or something work for the Os?
  7. Maybe we can trade Fulmer, Collins, and Burger for Kirilloff?
  8. Nope. I'm saying that they had the #1 farm system in 2014 and look where they are 5 years later. Zero playoff wins to show for it. The Sox better have more on their resume come 2023 or this rebuild was an epic disaster.
  9. What was the point of tearing everything down if the end goal is to just maybe make the wild card game one year? The Sox should have stayed course with Sale, Q, etc in that case and hoped to catch lighting in a bottle. Mirroring the Cubs would obviously be nice. That looks to be a real long shot though. The Cubbies made it all the way to the NLCS in year 4 of their rebuild. The Sox FO will be doing victory laps if they even sniff 500 in 2020.
  10. The Twins had the number one farm system in baseball in 2014. That was five years ago! How is their window not right now? in 2023 are we going to be happy as Sox fans if all they did was just sneak into the wild card game and have zero playoff wins?
  11. I'm not saying that their window is closed. Their window is right now and they should be dominating and kicking ass right now. They should have been kicking ass last year as well. They should be doing more than just competing for a division crown in a god awful division. Twins fans were writing out lineups 4-5 years ago with sky high projections for Buxton and Sano. Funny thing happened along the way..
  12. You are in the minority, but I think the Sox drafting philosophy aligns well with what you are saying. 2020 will be year #4 of the rebuild. The Sox are going to be drafting a player that can get up to the big leagues quickly. They don't have the time or luxury to draft a Witt or Abrams and let them develop in the minors for 4-5 years.
  13. Whop de doo. The Twins made the playoffs in 2017 and got swept right out. They had a top farm system 4 years ago and haven't won jack shit with it. The Sox aren't gonna win jack shit either without spending some $$$.
  14. What other choice do they have if they aren't going to pay for premium talent? It is either grow this thing internally with a super low payroll or fill in the gaps with mid-tier free agents.
  15. I see the Sox signing three mid tier guys this offseason similar to the LaRoche/Melky/Robertson signings back in 2015. Something like Puig/Wood/Wacha makes sense. The Sox are going to have to develop their own Harper and Machado's internally.
  16. The OP seems to think that all the Sox prospects are going to pan out. That isn't going to happen. Just ask the 2015 Minnesota Twins and their top 3 farm system.
  17. Alonso and Jay only should have been brought on board once Machado had signed on the dotted line. Acquiring those two beforehand just reeked of desperation by the Sox. Hopefully Alonso can be be moved over the Summer for a couple of deep dish pizzas. This guy has no place on the 2020 roster.
  18. Maybe Booker gets bumped up to Charlotte once Basabe is back at B-Ham?
  19. I still can't wrap my head around the Alonso and Jay acquisitions. Did the Sox FO really think that Machado would take a huge discount just so he could play with his buddy and brother in law for a year?
  20. I agree with Stroman. Let the players say whatever the hell they want to each other during the course of battle. Emotions run high during the game and dumb shit gets said. Let Anderson call Keller a weak ass jigga, let Gurriel make fun of Darvish's eyes, let Pillar be a homophobe, let a white dude say something racially insensitive. I got no problem if it happens on the field of play and stays there. The players can police themselves.
  21. U really think that the Sox will pony up for JD Martinez? That lineup is lacking a catcher. Doesn't seem close to certain that Collins will stick behind the plate. Cordell as an everyday starter seems like a reach. Puig or Castellanos would look much better in right field.
  22. Maybe the Sox keep him in the bullpen moving forward in hopes that he can be a shut down closer? Might make sense seeing as how Zach Burdi appears to be burnt toast.
  23. Remember when the Sox were going to trade Carson Fulmer and a couple deep dish pizzas to LA for Joc Pederson?
